Bollywood Superstar ShahRukh Khan has made into the skies. Wonder how? A crater in moon has been named after Shah Rukh Khan by the  International Lunar Geographic Society.

This has been approved by the International Astronomical Union, which has a final say with regard to the naming of craters on the moon. The crater “has been given the honorary designation as the Crater S R Khan on the occasion of Mr Khan’s 44th birthday” on November 2, 2009, the society said.

According to the society, the crater was named following a deluge of petitions from Shah Rukh’s admirers from India and around the world. Incidentally, one of his dedicated admirers has already presented him with a piece of the moon by buying him land there.

With a crater named after him, Shah Rukh now joins the ranks of eminent personalities like Nobel laureate C V Raman, father of the Indian space programme Vikram Sarabhai, father of the Indian nuclear programme Homi Bhabha and other luminaries like Meghnad Saha after whom craters have been named.

The decision has triggered a mixed response within the scientific community, with the father of the Indian moon mission Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan supporting it, but president of the National Space Society, Suresh Naik, describing it as “shocking”. In another vein, a young schoolgirl commented, “I think another crater on the moon should be named after Amitabh Bachchan, since he is also a great actor.”

Secretary of the Indian chapter of the Moon Society, Pradeep Mohandas, shared Kasturirangan’s view. “I think it is not a bad idea since it reflects the thinking of the new generation of young Indians,” he said.

Kasturirangan told TOI on Sunday from New Delhi that Shah Rukh is extremely popular and a symbol of national pride.

“I do see a rationale behind this decision. He is a kind of ambassador for India and this reflects the way India views him,” he said.

In the end its a party time for India and for all the fans of SRK

Michael Jackson Death Investigation Complete

Posted by Tommy On January - 8 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

TMZ just posted this news….

The LAPD investigation into Michael Jackson’s death has been completed and the case will go to the D.A. within weeks, law enforcement sources tell TMZ … and, we’re told, it’s all but certain Dr. Conrad Murray will be criminally charged in MJ’s death.

Our sources say detectives completed their investigation late last month and the case will be formally presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney as soon as scheduling allows. Turns out … the presentation will draw quite the crowd. A number of members of the LAPD and the D.A.’s office will be present, and finding a date when everyone can show is a little tricky … but we’re told it will happen in a matter of weeks.

One very informed source says the LAPD investigation was “exhaustive” and “extremely thorough” and the D.A. has enough evidence to pull the trigger on a criminal case against Dr. Murray. That said, we’re told the case is complicated, in part because Dr. Murray did not break any laws in administering Propofol to Jackson.

One law enforcement source connected with the case notes the D.A. has been actively working with the LAPD and it’s all but certain the case will be filed. As for the charge — a decision has not been made, but our sources say the likelihood is involuntary manslaughter, which requires a showing of gross negligence.

Adam Movie Review + Trailer

Posted by Tommy On January - 1 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

I just watched this movie. Its a really good movie. Infact its awesome, its the not the usual Hollywood romantic flick. Its different. Anyway, lets get to the story. Its a movie about Adam(Hugh Dancy), a guy who has Asperger’s Syndrome. Because of this he is not able to understand what others say if they don’t mean it exactly. The movie starts with the burial of his father. He is alone now. Now is when Beth(Rose Byrne) moves into the same building. The relationship between Admin and Beth is what the keeps the story moving. Hugh has done very well in this movie. His acting is superb. Rose too did a good job.

You really need to watch it to feel it. I am sorry I am not good at expressing how good the movie was(Asperger’s Syndrome ???).

I’ll give this movie  9/10.

Here is the trailer for you :

Director : Max Mayer
Writer : Max Mayer
Tagline : A story about two strangers. One a little stranger than the other…

Michael Jackson's Thriller

The red leather jacket. The yellow eyes. The zombies. The dance. That laugh. Think what you want about the late man himself, but videos don’t come much more culturally significant than Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

Which is exactly why the Library of Congress has seen fit to include the groundbreaking 1983 music video as one of the 25 films to be added to the National Film Registry this year.

The preserving body typically selects films that are “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.” Not to mention films that are, well, actual films.

This year’s crop joins 500 other motion pictures that have been selected to be saved in perpetuity since the NFR was created in 1989. Rather than a mere “best of” list, the registry inducts films that served to spotlight American creativity in cinema and are at least 10 years old.

Here are this year’s selections:

• Dog Day Afternoon (1975)
• The Exiles
(1961)
• Heroes All
(1920)
• Hot Dogs for Gauguin (1972)
• The Incredible Shrinking Man
(1957)
• Jezebel
(1938)
• The Jungle (1967)
• The Lead Shoes (1949)
• Little Nemo (1911)
• Mabel’s Blunder
(1914)
• The Mark of Zorro (1940)
• Mrs. Miniver
(1942)
• The Muppet Movie (1979)
• Once Upon a Time in the West (1968)
• Pillow Talk (1959)
• Precious Images (1986)
• Quasi at the Quackadero (1975)
• The Red Book (1994)
• The Revenge of the Pancho Villa
(1930-36)
• Scratch and Crow (1995)
• Stark Love (1927)
• The Story of G.I. Joe (1945)
• A Study in Reds (1932)
• Thriller
(1983)
