Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion Review

Posted by Shane On September - 9 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Steven Soderbergh’s polar tendencies toward both mainstream entertainment and experimentation find a near-perfect medium in Contagion, which is both among the most thrilling and terrifying movies of the year and a meticulous, gorgeous use of brand-new digital filmmaking technology. Seeing the film blown up huge on an IMAX screen isn’t entirely necessary, but it does allow the close-up shots on Soderbergh’s RED Epic cameras to accomplish even more of the film’s creepy-crawly, psychologically affecting claustrophobia. A star-studded disaster thriller that’s also got enough talent to hit home, Contagion is satisfying and spooky and a total thrill to watch.

Contagion begins on day two of a disaster that will soon wipe out a significant percentage of the Earth’s population, a disaster that’s frighteningly plausible– a virus, born of some strange combination of bat and pig DNA, that found a human carrier and spread from there. The woman identified as Patient Zero (Gwyneth Paltrow) travels from Hong Kong, stops over in Chicago to hook up with an old boyfriend, and returns home to her husband Mitch (Matt Damon) before dying, suddenly and violently. Before long her son is dead too, and with Mitch mysteriously immune, he’s left to team up with his daughter Jory (Anna Jacoby-Heron) to survive in a world that’s quickly unraveling.

(Trailer) Lion King is back in 3D!

Hakuna matata!  “Leave the Past Behind you”.  Is not the Slogan for Disney who is planning to release the Lion King movie in 3D this year.

Wow that sound amazing. The  most admired and loved king of the Jungle Simba is back to take his throne in the valleys of Pride Back  in cinemas near you.

I say, if Simba is returning back to theaters, then we should definitely put Hakuna Matata behind us.

Lion King, the tale of an young cub Simba who was tricked into believing by his uncle Scar that he  killed his father mufaza , who  runs away from his land to far away place and grows up with Timon and Pumbaa only to learn later about his responsibility in the circle of life. Who then  returns back to find the true murderer of his father  and take his rightful position.

Ah,the old memories of my young days is back.  I loved Lion King as a kid and still love it.

Lion king is one of those  animated movie that touches one’s heart emotionally.  The 2D  release of the movie in 1994,  grossed more than $783 million worldwide, becoming the most successful film released that year, and it is currently the 33rd highest-grossing feature film.

I reckon,  the 3D release will beat many more records than the 2D.

Al right, when is the Lion king 3D movie getting released?

Well, Lion King 3D is getting released on Sept. 16, 2011.

Enjoy folks.

I leave you with the Lion King 3Dtrailer

Harry Potter, the boy who lived, has now became a man with the dead of Voldemort in the epic finale “Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part 2″.

After seeing the epic clash myself, i would bring you the details of the clash and how the death himself took Voldemort away.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part2  Review

The movie began with the same chill and suspense as it was in the Part 1 of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie.

I would tell you readers, not to expect everything that was in the book. The movie which had all the essence to justify a Potter climax, doesnt follow the book entirely.

Coming back to the movie, Harry Potter meant business as he went straight away to Gringotts to destroy the   horcrux.

The connection between Harry Potter and Voldemort’s mind was pictured  very clearly in this finale. Every time Harry destroyed Horcrux both he, and Voldemort felt the pain.

It was clear that Voldemort knew what Harry was hunting down after the Gringotts breakdown.

After learning Harry is in Hogwarts, he takes the death eaters and comes back to Hogwarts to try and kill Harry Potter.

And then it began!

Clashes, Death, Battle, Cries, everywhere in Hogwarts.

Neville was the star of the battle as he confronts Voldemort and takes down Nagini with Gryffindors sword.

Now, heres a thumbs down from me, When Voldemort died, they didnt show any celebrations at all.

Che, that was very annoying. Really annoying. You can only hear celebrations from the theater audience. But not from Hogwarts inmates.

Minus the above comment, the movie was very cool.

Snape story was superbly handled and justified. I am sure , many of you readers must have the same opinion as me, but some may be disappointed as the script writers deleted many part of Snapes story

The conversion between Harry and Dumbledore at the Kings Cross was very boring though.  Dumbledore failed to explain the cause of her sister’s death.

Thats what confused me. In the movie, we saw Aberforth Dumbledore telling Harry how Dumbledore is a man of  secrets. But we failed to get answers from Dumbledore in King cross.

In the end, the movie is a must watch.

P.s: Please try to know the basic of Harry Potter and what he is going after from a Potter fan  and then go to the theatres.

You will enjoy it.

I rate the movie 10 out of 10.

Good Bye, Mr. Potter!

Thats What I am’, is the latest WWE Studios release that will hit the screens on April 29, 2011.

Ed Harris, Chase Ellison, Amy Madigan to be seen along with the WWE Superstar Randy Orton  in WWE Studios’ “That’s What I Am,”. With this release, Randy Orton joins the rank with Dyawne Johnson, John Cena, Ted dibiase to star in a WWE productions.

About the Movie

The movie story line as reported in IMDB continues below

A coming-of-age story that follows 12-year-old Andy Nichol (Chase Ellison), a bright student who, like most kids his age, will do anything to avoid conflict for fear of suffering overwhelming ridicule and punishment from his junior high school peers. Everyone’s favorite teacher, Mr. Simon (Ed Harris), pairs Andy with the school’s biggest outcast and social pariah, Stanley, aka “Big G” (Alexander Walters) on a critical term project.

Sporting thick orange hair, a head too big for his body and ears too big for his head, “Big G” has been the object of ridicule since grade school. Before long, Andy will learn that there was truly a method behind Mr. Simon’s madness as to why he teamed these two up. As the story unfolds, Mr. Simon finds himself the target of a malicious rumor after Principal Kelner (Amy Madigan) suspends a school bully for brutally beating up a female classmate who he thinks has “cooties.”

When Andy watches “Big G” fearlessly confront the school bully, a series of events are triggered, which change the lives of both young men – and their teacher – forever. Much to Andy’s surprise “Big G” is brilliant, kind, tolerant and a decent human being, who has more dignity than anyone Andy has ever encountered.

Thats What i am(2011) Movie Trailer

I have uploaded the trailer for you folks. Enjoy the trailer below

Alien invasion film “Battle: Los Angeles” waged a successful campaign for North American movie supremacy over the weekend, collecting $36 million in a march to the No. 1 spot on box office charts.

The movie, which tells of a group of U.S. Marines defending the city from otherworldly beings, trounced two other new films in theaters, thriller “Red Riding Hood” and animated “Mars Needs Moms,” which looks to be a costly flop for the Disney studios, according to studio estimates on Sunday.

“Battle: Los Angeles” also opened in 33 overseas markets, where it took in $16.7 million to boost its worldwide haul to nearly $53 million over its debut weekend in theaters.

“It hit the high end of our expectations,” said Rory Bruer, distribution chief for the film units of Sony Pictures, which released the movie. He called the opening a “great result.”

Megamind (2010) reviews

Posted by Shane On March - 1 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Megamind (2010) is an animated, comedy, super-hero movie released back in December 2010. Megamind is one of those movies where an adult and kid enjoy watching together. Its kind of taking us back to the Superman stuff.

Let me begin the review with the storyline:

After super-villain Megamind (Ferrell) kills his good-guy nemesis, Metro Man (Pitt), he becomes bored since there is no one left to fight. He creates a new foe, Titan (Hill), who, instead of using his powers for good, sets out to destroy the world, positioning Megamind to save the day for the first time in his life

Let me take a complete analysis of the movie.

The movie starts with  Megamind ( the villian guy) falling from the sky. The story begins with Megamind’s emotion and a flash back of his life that led him to the current drastic situation.

Megamind and Metroman birth

Megamind and Metroman( super hero) came to Earth from the same dying planet. Right from leaving their home planet, both the kids fight with each other. Let it be the spaceship or the kinder Garden school, they always fight.

Megamind describes Metroman as a good looking face that always gets good luck. He (megamind), however, is always unfortunate and end up in a wrong place.

Megamind grows behind the bars in Jail, whereas metro man gets good life with rich adopted parents.

The story now shifts with both the gentleman’s becoming young.

Megamind loves to fight with Metroman and is always on the search to find out ways to fight him. As the usual things continue (Megamind disrupting peace and Metroman saving the city) , Metroman becomes tired of saving-the-day  stuff  thereby faking his death in the hands of Megamind.

Megamind who has never won anything in his life becomes shock on knowing the very fact that he actually killed Metroman.

City Ends up with the Bad Guy

People of Metro city are now enslaved in the kingdom of  Megamind who himself blames of finishing Metroman.

As days passes by, Megamind misses Metroman more than the people, with always quoting “I have no one to Challenge”

Love develops between Megamind and Roxanne Ritchie

Meanwhile, Megamind falls in love with a local journalist Roxanne who could never forgive Megamind for what he has done to the city.

Megamind uses technology to change his self and impersonating others look to meet up with Roxanne. During a date with Megamind, Roxanne discovers the truth about Megamind. she leaves Megamind questioning how could you think i will be with an Evil person?  for which poor Megamind has no answers.

Megamind creates a Hero

Megamind creates a hero so that he could fight with someone and makes his life bad one once again. He accidently makes Hal Stewart  ( a guy who works with Roxanne and secretly loves Roxanne), a superhero naming him “The Titan”.

This was Megamind greatest mistake, as Hal Stewart turns out to be a villian and the destroyer.

Now, its all left with Megamind to save the day with no Metro man around.

Megamind Becomes a Hero

Megamind with the return of Roxanne on his side, faces Titan. The rest of the movie is very nail biting with comical stuff around.

In the end, the climax keeps the audience waiting whether Megamind saves the day or not which he actually does.

The movie is a great  entertainer and i personally rate the movie   9 out of 10.

The Movie is directed by Tom McGrath.

Brad Pitt has voiced for Metroman and Will Ferrell has voiced for Megamind.  Tina Fey has voiced for Roxanne whereas Jonah Hill has done it for Hal Stewart
