The Expendables 2010 Review

Posted by Tommy On September - 6 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

I got to watch this movie last night. I kinda got mis-leaded by the ratings in IMDB. I usually trust IMDB ratings, but this time it made me think twice about how it can works.

The Expendables

The Expendables

Back to the movie The Expendables. The movie stars Sylvester Stallone(as Barney Ross), Jason Statham (Lee Christmas), Jet Li (Ying Yang), Dolph Lundgren(Gunner Jensen), Erick Roberts, Steve Austion and some more actors. It is directed by Sylvester Stallone himself.

The list of actors must tell you all about the movie. Its a fully action packed movie with a lot of nail biting, seat grabbing scenes. The movie has no plot no story whatsoever. If you want to spend a hour and half watching machine-gun wielding pumped-up alpha male killing ‘bad-guys’ and blowing up everything around them(I am NOT exaggerating here) This movie is definitely for you.

I enjoyed it because of the scenes that were played very well in a thrilling manner.

Now back to IMDB rating, I usually expect anything above a rating of 7 in IMDB to be fully packed with a good story and plot thats a complete package.

Now The Expendables has a rating of 7.2 (too many Fanboys ??) I did enjoy the movie but when I rate it I have to look at other factors too. This movie really missed a lot other then being a pure action movie to its core. Some may get bored of it. I was kinda bored during the end. How long can a man enjoy continuous explosions and gun firing ?

I think i’ll give it a 6/10.

This movie is definitely worth a watch but of course you must know what you are going to expect.

The Others (2001) movie review

Posted by Shane On September - 4 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

This will seem to be little older movie to make review of. But i would certainly acknowledge to viewers , those who didnt see this movie yet, its worth to watch it.

After seeing this movie a month back in DVD, i went mad on myself on how could i miss such a beautiful movie as this.

About the movie

The Others(2001) movie has Nicole Kidman in the lead role. I must confess i watched this movie only for Nicole Kidman but couldnt resist the perfection of the script that revealed upon.

The movie starts with a Mother and her 2 children. The Movie dates itself around 1940′s, a time of Nazi scare among England.

Speaking on the movie, the mother (Grace Stewart) and her children (Anne Stewart and Nicholas Stewart) are living in a huge home which is always covered with curtains due to the fact that the children had some kind of weird skin disease that would kill them if they were exposed to sunlight.

The Father is out for war to serve his duty for the nation.

The movie continuous with the incoming of 3 new members who were supposed to be seeking a job as a house keeper. Grace stewart allows them to stay and work for the home.

As days passes by, Grace Stewart becomes aware of an alien presence in the home which they often refer to as “The intruders”.

Boy, the movie goes so well with the acting. The children were absolute amazing in their performance.

At the end of the movie, the mother and the children discovers the fact that the Intruders are humans and they themselves are dead souls living in the home.

Isn’t that a beauty. The film began’s with the series of incidents that tells the viewers on a possibility of ghost present in the building only to conclude in the end that the mother and the 2 children were the ghost.

I enjoyed it.

I rate the movie  9.5 out of 10.

A must watch movie

Posted by Tommy On August - 26 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Lets have a look at what movies you can expect this weekend. Just 3 new movies and Avatar being re-released(for wat ??).

So, the movies are :

1. Takers

2. The Last Exorcism

3. Centurion

4. Avatar

1. Takers:

Takers Movie 2010

Who's taking who ?

Takers is an Action/Thriller movie directed by John Luessenhop. It stars Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen, Matt Dillon, Michael Ealy, Idris Elba and a lot more. The plot seems to be a very old repetitive plot. A group tries to rob a bank of $20 Million but their plans get interrupted by a good cop/detective. Again, how many movies of the same plot have we already seen ??

2.The Last Exorcism:

the last exorcism

The Last Exorcism

A horror movie by Daniel Stamm. Well, when you see the word ‘Exorcism’ you pretty much know the whole plot of the movie upto the ending. This movie is no different except that this time the evangelical minister agrees to let his last exorcism be filmed by a documented crew. So, this movie actually seems to have a different view point from the previous ‘Exorcism’ movies. Lets hope its good.

3. Centurion:

Fight Or Die

History is written in blood.

The title speaks a thousand words. Thats right, as you guessed it is a Action/Adventure movie. Yes, lots of fights. Its directed and written by Neil Marshall. A splinter group of Roman soldiers fight for their lives behind enemy lines after their legion is decimated in a devastating guerrilla attack. The poster looks like that of 300 so does the plot, hmmm……

4.Avatar:

Avatar Movie 2010

Enter The World

Nothing much to say here. James Cameron’s movie, its just being re-released. A paraplegic marine dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission becomes torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home.

Black Swan 2010 Reviews and Trailer

Posted by Shane On August - 18 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Man, this is what i call a perfect trailer. Absolutely awesome. Black Swan is a thriller flick which revolves around a dancer “Nina”  and her rival “lily”.

The movie goes around the rivalry that exist between the two dancers on who to be casted for the new season. The director however wanted a person who suites both the role of White Swan with innocence and grace, and the Black Swan, who represents guile and sensuality. Though nina fits into this role, she gets a  new competition from Lily who is an another dancer.

Nina decides to be friends with lily but later finds out the horror within lily that could lead her to destruction.

The movie release date is  1 dec 2010.

I have uploaded the trailer for you.

‘Grown Ups (2010)’ Review

Posted by Tommy On August - 17 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

I got to watch this movie yesterday. I don’t know really where to to start cause this movie was so dumb. I am a huge fan of Adam Sandler, but even then I couldn’t force myself to like this movie.

This movie has no plot its just plain and dumb. It relies on cheap comedies that you normally watch in crap movies such as ‘Epic Movie’ . I really can’t believe that Adam Sandler did this!

Grown Ups

Grown Ups - DON'T WATCH!

The movie starts off good. The five childhood friends Lenny Feder (Adam Sandler), Eric Lamonsoff (Kevin James), Kurt McKenzie (chris Rock), Marcus Higgins (David Spade) and Rob Hilliard (Rob Schneider) reunite on the funeral of their coach. Their all together after a long time, so naturally they tend to have lots of fun. There a few jokes in the funeral itself. Oh God, I can’t believe this, right now I was actually thinking something more good to write about this movie but I really don’t have anything!

So, lets start trashing the movie again. Its really really slow moving. But of course there are a few good comedies, but they are really rare. Since the majority of the film stinks you wouldn’t really enjoy it.

If you have any plans on watching this movie, please drop it. Its a real pain sitting through even half-hour of the movie. But I didn’t expecting the movie to pick some plot or something and get moving, sadly it has none. with about half-hour of the movie still left I can’t take it anymore I switched it off.

You could watch ‘Epic Movie’ or something like that instead of this. Atleast it will keep you interested to know whats going to happen even though its comedy sucks.

Grown Ups sucks both ways, its got no plot, no comedy. I don’t see the point in sitting and watching this movie.

I’ll rate this movie just 1/10. The reason is simple no movie has ever forced me to think *Why am I watching this crap?*
