Bollywood Superstar ShahRukh Khan has made into the skies. Wonder how? A crater in moon has been named after Shah Rukh Khan by the  International Lunar Geographic Society.

This has been approved by the International Astronomical Union, which has a final say with regard to the naming of craters on the moon. The crater “has been given the honorary designation as the Crater S R Khan on the occasion of Mr Khan’s 44th birthday” on November 2, 2009, the society said.

According to the society, the crater was named following a deluge of petitions from Shah Rukh’s admirers from India and around the world. Incidentally, one of his dedicated admirers has already presented him with a piece of the moon by buying him land there.

With a crater named after him, Shah Rukh now joins the ranks of eminent personalities like Nobel laureate C V Raman, father of the Indian space programme Vikram Sarabhai, father of the Indian nuclear programme Homi Bhabha and other luminaries like Meghnad Saha after whom craters have been named.

The decision has triggered a mixed response within the scientific community, with the father of the Indian moon mission Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan supporting it, but president of the National Space Society, Suresh Naik, describing it as “shocking”. In another vein, a young schoolgirl commented, “I think another crater on the moon should be named after Amitabh Bachchan, since he is also a great actor.”

Secretary of the Indian chapter of the Moon Society, Pradeep Mohandas, shared Kasturirangan’s view. “I think it is not a bad idea since it reflects the thinking of the new generation of young Indians,” he said.

Kasturirangan told TOI on Sunday from New Delhi that Shah Rukh is extremely popular and a symbol of national pride.

“I do see a rationale behind this decision. He is a kind of ambassador for India and this reflects the way India views him,” he said.

In the end its a party time for India and for all the fans of SRK

Life After Retirement

Posted by Vijayalakshmi On December - 25 - 20092 COMMENTS

In the present day scenario each one is very busy and has no time to think about next second. Where are we going?

Each individual has to plan his/her life well way ahead of the time. Planning is required at every stage and for everything, whether it is in day today living or in the office or with regard to children or parents or a trip or travel. Planning makes things trouble free, comfortable and gives time and space to enjoy what one is doing or planning to do. When you do things in a hurry and in a haphazard way, the real pleasure and enjoyment will be lost because you are doing things for the sake of doing and since you are doing in a haste and hurry you are at tension always. Therefore the real purpose, that is, the enjoyment or relaxation is lost!!!

When we say or think or talk of planning, generally we imagine only money. But it is not true. Money is just one aspect of it. Planning involves many things.

Time planning is a very important aspect which many neglect. When one plans to retire, this time planning plays a very important role.  People will have much more time at their disposal than what they used to have while in service. If one does not plan it well one will get bored thinking what to do and start doing things which are not comfortable to others or may be a nuisance to others. The old saying “an idle mind is a devil’s workshop” may come true. Therefore it is always better you plan your retirement way ahead so that you may start enjoying life after retirement too, which is very much possible and necessary too.

In India, generally we retire after we complete all our duties and responsibilities or in other words we try to fulfill all our duties and responsibilities (as much as possible) before we retire. Therefore the time belongs to us and for us alone. We should know and plan how we are going to spend it. Most of us say “what is there, we will go and live with our children”. Is it necessary that we should go and live with our children? I do not think so. If we plan our finances well from the beginning itself, we can lead a life of our own on our own. Even if we decide to live with our children planning the time and resources is very important.

It is always good to develop good ears rather than a good tongue. What I mean is one should develop patience to hear to what others have to say rather than talk and give our opinions and expect others to follow. The days are changing. What was suitable and considered the best during one’s childhood may not be so after 20 years. Habits, life style, values, social norms, views, perception of things are all changing due to various reasons. Therefore it is always better that one tries to develop the habit to adjust and accept the change quietly. One should always try to update the knowledge and afresh with the latest developments in order to converse with the present youth and make them accept into their group, which is very necessary in the retired life. Else one will feel left out, depressed and lonely.

One should develop the habit of involving in the activities, interests, day today routine of the children without interfering with their life, so that they feel our presence as a pleasure rather than as an inconvenience and nuisance. Try to be helpful within limits, never give advices before requested for, and do not expect to be followed or do not mind if not followed. One should remember that the water flows from top to bottom and not reverse. That is, we show our love and affection to our children and they in turn will show to their children. Never expect that towards you and get disappointed and depressed. If you get it, then it is a bonus and welcome it with pleasure. One should always remember that we have lived our lives as per our wish, plan and likes and dislikes and now it is the turn of them to do that as per their wish, plan and likes and dislikes. Never make the mistake of thinking that you are right and others are to follow since they do not know. Never interfere with the freedom of others even if they are your children. Accept that the children have grown up and can plan their things well, may be better than us and that they are matured individuals with some place in the society. Learn to feel proud that our children have grown into respectable individual in the society. Learn to take the back seat and try to sit quietly and watch things as they are happening. This does not mean not to involve in the family matters or neglect everyone and be aloof. One should be concerned and at the same time non-interfering. It is a habit which has to be cultivated with practice and patience.

It is better if one develops some hobby from the younger days itself. The best hobby is reading. In the present day scenario all are aware of exercise for better health. One can plan a good exercise routine so that some time is spent and good health is maintained. We can make a small group and start playing shuttle or swimming which are good exercise activities and the time spent in the court or in the pool are very refreshing and relaxing too. In the beginning it may not be so exciting but in due course the group becomes so close you start enjoying the company and find it very refreshing since you feel you have someone to express the feelings. In the long run you start enjoying it that you hardly feel like missing it. It is very important to have someone close so that you do not feel left out or alone. At any stage in our lives we need true friends to be with at least some time in a day. These types of activities fill that gap.

While selecting the hobbies one should be very careful. One should remember that at the end of each day we have grown older by one day. The body becomes weak and fragile without our knowledge. I remember one of my friends who came from Mumbai and settled as my neighbor. Since they have spent in small apartments in Mumbai, they had a fascination about bungalows and wanted to live in a spacious villa. Therefore they built a huge bungalow with a space for garden around and started living in it. Both of them started gardening and they were so involved that they were spending almost all their time in the garden either digging or cutting or trimming the plants or watering or plucking flowers or doing some other work in the garden. This resulted in that man developing shoulder pain which became so severe that he had to undergo surgery and the doctor advised him to stop doing all this type of work which ended him in depression and disgust that now he gets irritated and angry for everything and there is no peace in the house and he is no more the old jovial type of person. His whole personality has changed.

Life After Retirement

Life After Retirement

I have another friend who too were like these and were living in a villa and were very obsessive about their life style. Now they have grown old. There are three of them living, out of which one is 90+, one is 80+ and the other one is 70+ in age!! Most of the villas have only one bedroom in the ground floor and 2 or 3 rooms in the first floor. As a result, the lady who is 90+ age sleeps in the ground floor and the rest are sleeping in the first floor. The lady of the house is not able to sleep peacefully in her room since the old lady is down stairs. She is neither there nor in the ground floor. She confesses that she spends most of her time on the stair case. So, one should have some forethought before selecting a house to live after retirement. We should give priority for convenience rather than pride and prestige.

We can develop the habit of going for long walks, try to do some social work which is suitable for our age, health etc. For example, we can go to a temple and try to help in the management of the temple or take part in the various activities there. Or we can go to a hospital or a health centre and try do help in their day today activities. Or we can go to a nearby school and try to help the authorities in running it. All these we should do staying within our permissible limits without interfering with the authorities. We may even join a NGO and help them. We should make ourselves acceptable by our behavior.

There are many ways one can keep oneself engaged after retirement. Only thing is that we should look around for opportunities. Change the life style a little to suit the convenience of others. Stop talking about yourself, about your achievements, how you suffered or what type of life style you lived etc. No one is interested or they are bored of listening to such stories time and again from you and others in the past!! Show interest in others’ activities, their work, life style, struggle, interests etc. which will make them comfortable and happy. Let us try to live a life more useful, more meaningful and more enjoyable to us as well as for others. Grumbling and comparing will end us up in unhappiness and frustration which will neither help us nor others.

Let us understand the reality and try to be happy and lead a life full of happiness and joy and meaningful at the fag end of our lives.

Windows 7 Review!

Windows 7 Review!

Windows 7 Review!

I am back! after a long break ;) . I was messing around with Windows 7 and finally decided to give it a shot. And so that what brings me here, a review! Before we go into the review. Let me let you guys know the configuration or System specification of the machine in which I tested Windows 7. Here they are:

MotherBoard : Intel 915 GAV

Processor :  Pentium IV 3.2Ghz

Ram : 512MB

Hard Disk : 250GB Segate

And a 16″ Viewsonic LCD monitor

Yes, this system surely does not meet the minimum requirements of Windows 7, so what ? I decided to give it a shot anyway. With all the positive feedback I saw on the internet I wanted to blame Windows 7 for not working in my system :) .

I started the installation process waiting for a warning, but non came. It took over 45mins to install. Thats kinda quick, it looks like W7 takes around 30 mins to install in a system that meets its requirements.

After the installation was done, I got the desktop, The resolution was crappy. I wanted to open and test Internet Explorer to see how much this can handle. But it looks like my network was not connected. I couldn’t believe that Windows7 by default didn’t have my LAN Drivers. Anyway, after about more that one hour of searching online for drivers I finally decided to check if I have its CD. I got it! After installing still my LAN card was not working. Then finally did a manual install from Device Manager to connect to the internet. Everything seems so far so good.

I got my MotherBoard Disk to install the drivers it didn’t autoplay due to some illegal operation. Tried running them manually and installed the graphics drivers and the sound drivers after restart I noticed that the sound software was not working in w7 so after ditching it tested if the audio was ok and it was!

I still had a crappy resolution, I downloaded the monitor drivers and installed them to fix that issue. Now all seems well, I opened more than 10 tabs in IE and didn’t have a snag. I decided its time to install all the Messengers and programs. I installed Yahoo, Gtalk, MSN, VLC Player, firefox 3.6 and Chrome. So far so good no problems yet.

I decided its time for the anti-virus program. I installed BitDefender 2010 Total Security with all the services enabled. Now I started to notice a small snag at the start-up but was normal after that.

I was really surprised that Windows 7 was doing so well in such a crappy system. I check the memory usage it was using around 68% with majority begin used by antivirus program BitDefender.

Its been 2 days so far and I have started using the system normally as I would browse it seems so smooth.

You guys really need to give it a try. Its very smooth and a lots of features that makes life easy. It boots in less than 30 seconds!

It looks like Microsoft finally joined the race in making a better OS. HATS OFF! to Microsoft for WINDOWS 7!

Nostradamus 2012 Warning Unlocked

Posted by Shane On September - 22 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

After investigating series of documentaries and books, i am really shocked to find the possible warnings that all point to Dec 21, 2012. The warnings of all religious cultures, Mayan Calendar, Nostradamus point to same thing Destruction.

This post  contains materials that will  hurt the people of  light hearted, if your so  Please do not read this :-(

Dec 21, 2012 what will happen ???  Let me first bring forward few of the religious warnings

Bible:

In Bible, Jesus  says  ” I will come again at the  End of  the age

Now what does   End of the age means:

Well, It is found out that  the Earth Will complete its  star rotation on exactly Dec 12 , 2012  therby changing its  Astrological  star of Pisces to  Aquarius that is  marked as  End of Age of  Pisces

Islam:

Prophet Muhammed (P.b.u.h) said  ” Near the end of days, the Earth will have the sun for whole of  Seven days and nights”. A more stressing  Doomsday warning  is  either “Sun will rise from West and sets in East”  or the Arrival of  Al- Dajjal (Anti Christ).

Sun will rise from the West??? How???

For those who are not aware ,  a great destruction in the name of Planet X also called Nibiru  is about to cross the  Earth which is also expected to come at  Dec 21, 2012  making  Earth to Stop itself for  3 long days and then shift its  pole .

Pole shift means the Rotational speed of Earth will be shifted. This may make  Sun to rise from the West. can this be it?

Planet X or  Nibiru:

How does Planet X look like ?  It is  said from NASA  source that “Planet X or Nibiru  looks like Red Ball of fire belonging to a solar system name Dark Star. Planet X is  supposed to be the Seventh planet in the Dark star. This information is very important as it is referred by nostradamus and you will see the reason  below the post. The size  of Nibiru is more than that of our imagination.

The good news is it wont hit earth. The worst news is it will change the polar shift of earth making the earth to stop for  3 days causing  Earthquakes, Tsunami’s , storms that will eliminate  2/3 of World Populution. Source for this news is abudant in web, have a search in Google  or Bing.

Mayan Calendar:

Mayan, people who believed to have lived this earth thousands of years ago has also marked their End of the calender precisely at  Dec 21, 2012. Why people gets scare when it comes to Mayan,” Its because the  predictions that mayan made about Solar Esclipse, Lunar Esclipse is current till date”

Mayan  made a warning symbol  as the Stone message quoting,  “Our  sun will rise in the middle of our galaxy and that Earth will finish its  complete rotation cycle that happens once Every  26,000 years. At this hour, the Sun will be covered  and the Earth will be dark like  deep black.

Rumors Highly speculate that  When earth  suffered the early rotation completion that  happened 26000 years ago, Human nature Discovered  Fire.

Nostradamus Warnings 2012:

Here is the biggest  deal “Nostradamus whose prophecies is  followed  as soul by American authorities has much lot to say”. The discovery of  Nostradamus Lost book is also considered by some as a  sign of the doomsday.

America’s decision after sep 11 attack all was also taken considering Nostradamus Warnings.

Nostrodamus says “Dec 21, 2012 is the End or to say the earth will face  Mass Extinction that is not encountered in the history of Earth”

Nostrodamus warnings that will mark the beginning of  2012.

  • There will be great shedding of Blood,
  • Heaven will appear Unjust,
  • Both on land and sea and in the air,
  • Cults , famine, Kingdoms, Plagues,  Confusion

“The  passing of Planet X will  cause  a wide spread of  Plagues that the earth has never known in history”

Does Nostrodamus refer to this part???

Nostrodamus Warning of  climate change:

Quatrain 5:98

  • At  a latitude of  48 degrees at the end of cancer
  • There is a very great drought
  • Fish in the sea, river, and in lake boiled hectic
  • from fire in the sky

The warnings  here  simply indicates the fact of  Global Warming. He quotes it as Fire in the sky.  The weather Analytics report that  “After  1998 summer all the summer the earth has seen has increase in temperature and hotter than the other”.

Nostradamus warnings of Sun Alignment in the Galaxy

Nostrodamus

This image  Speaks lot. From this Image,  The wheel at the center  is considered Earth, The Sun right in middle and its  behind  the Lion which is also a astrological sign.

Marking the prophecies of the Mayan.

One may ask Now what  difference that will  make Allignment of  Sun in the center of galaxy. Well accordingly it will make a difference

According to nostrodamus at the very moment of sun rising in Center of galaxy,

  • Sun will enter the dark rift marking the path of Total 3  eclipse.
  • Earths age completion.
  • Earths Magnetic field change ( Hurray it is a doomsday for man who is a Technology dependent)
  • Appearance of Deadly Storms, Earthquakes, Tsunami , Volcano eruption that will make sure  Human kind is destroyed.

Now  here is the part which Nostrodamus refers to Planet X:

Quatrain 5:32

  • Where all is good in sun and moon and abundant,
  • its ruin approaches
  • it comes from the sky to sift through your fortunes
  • in the same state as the seventh rock

Seventh Rock—-> Planet X (Niribu) is the seventh in line in Dark star.

He goes on to add this at this moment, the  life in earth will kill each other , panic will struck among people, Hope of life will be torned down.

Have a  look in the image below

nostradamus-lost-book

Man holding Arms, with the  tree of life being  killed.

Finally Nostradamus  in the following image portraits  the BOOK OF  LIFE  as Empty

nostradamus

The life after this end will be choice for the individual to select. What does Nostradomus mean by this..

Now is the  fighting  twist  in the tale,

Many Higher officials claim Nostradamus  as a wicked one . Few going on to add his words as words from Satan.

The rest say  he cannot be believed as he is from Free Mason group

But  the  warnings that he gave  all drives to same. I think we may expect  Anti christ at that point of time of whom God warned as through all prophets.

This post was made to educate people on whats going on and not to struck panic.

Guy-asian-sittingThe first study to look at death rates across the world for young people aged 10 to 24 years was published on Friday.

The research, conducted by an international group of experts in adolescent health and backed by the World Health Organisation (WHO), included the following key findings:

* The top ten causes of death in all 10-24 year olds, male and female combined, globally were

1) Road traffic accidents (10 percent);

2) Suicide (6.3 percent);

3) Violence (6 percent);

4) Lower respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia (5.9 percent);

5) Tuberculosis (5.5 percent);

6) AIDS (5.5 percent);

7) Drowning (4.1 percent);

8) Fire-related deaths (2.6 percent);

9) Meningitis (2 percent);

10) War (1.8 percent)

* For males aged 10-24 worldwide, the top five causes of death were

1) Road traffic accidents (13.9 percent);

2) Violence (9.2 percent);

3) Suicide (6.4 percent);

4) Drowning (5.3 percent);

5) Tuberculosis (5.2 percent)

* For females, aged 10-24 worldwide, the top five causes of death were

1) Lower respiratory tract infections (6.7 percent);

2) Suicide (6.2 percent);

3) AIDS (6.1 percent);

4) Tuberculosis (5.8 percent);

5) Road traffic accidents (5 percent) **

** (Note- Maternal deaths from all causes represented 15 percent of deaths, however they were divided into a number of different categories meaning that no individual maternal death category featured in the top five)

* In higher-income countries, traffic accidents caused 32 percent of deaths in males aged 10-24 years. Violence accounted for 10 percent of male mortality and suicide 15 percent.

* Relative risks for death in Africa were higher than in any other region, and nearly seven times higher than in high-income countries. (305 vs 45 deaths per 100,000)

* Males died at higher rates than females in all age groups and regions apart from Africa and southeast Asia, where the increased number of female deaths was largely from maternal mortality, with deaths from suicide, fire, AIDS, and tuberculosis also contributing.

Education in India– A flaw Unnoticed

Posted by Vijayalakshmi On August - 17 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

myakka-indian-class-room-with-new-desks-and-chairs

The old saying is Food, Shelter and Clothing are the basic requirements of human beings. But in the present day scenario Education acquires the topmost and the first spot. It is believed that where Education is there the other aspects follow automatically!!

Now we have to analyze what we mean by education. Is it just to read, write only or is it only the acquisition of degrees or is it acquiring knowledge and if so what is knowledge and how to acquire etc. Then what is the need for this? Why one should have education or one should acquire knowledge? Like this many questions and doubts arise in our minds.

What is education? Is it knowledge in basic skills, academics, technical, discipline, citizenship or is it something else? Our society says only academic basics are important and that is based on collecting knowledge without understanding its value. How about the processing of knowledge, using inspiration, visionary ambitions, creativity, risk, ability to bounce back from failure, motivation? Most education institutions don’t consider these skills. These skills are associated with understanding the value of knowledge. There is a huge disconnected gap.

Test does not measure intelligence or ability; it does not measure how the mind processes information, how motivating experiences develop persistence, or how the mind sorts out instincts, opinions, evaluations, possibilities, alternatives. Now our education system is becoming a system that memorizes the dictionary. When students have memorized selected knowledge, then they will be given a one-day test, based on dictionary knowledge, which will influence employment opportunity for the rest of their life. Is this enough for progress in life in all directions? Does this provide the values in life, the fulfillment of aspirations, desires, and to attain the goals that one sets for oneself?

Achievers in life use inspiration and motivation to overcome barriers. Teaching to the test does not inspire or motivate anyone, memorizing does not inspire a love to learn, it turns off the desire to learn. Education’s goal should be to develop a love to learn that stays with students throughout a lifetime. Learning is a continuous process. Education should be a lifetime experience, not limited to the childhood or youth years.
What can be considered a quality education? A quality education should address the unique abilities of each student and has a positive emotional experience. It should evaluate the natural talents of the student. The educational pattern should be able to evaluate what works and does not work, then focus on what works. With this method, students develop a love to learn and learning becomes a lifelong process.
Yes it is easy said than done or implemented in the present day scenario where there is so much of competition and exposure. But is worth giving a thought and try!!
Recently the Government of India has passed a bill namely the right for education. A very good start towards progress. Like me many people appreciated and acclaimed it. But I would like to go little deep into this.
Can we assume that there are parents who do not want their children to go to school, study and progress in life? I feel that all parents want their children to lead a better life than what they are enjoying. If this is true then why there are so many children who are not attending schools and there are so many drop outs in our country? A problem to be probed and found out.
Recently I happened to visit a temple in a remote village near Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu, India. As we entered the locality where the temple is situated, about 10 to 12 children in the age group of 4 to 7 surrounded us to sell some sea shells which are given as offerings to the presiding deity. It was a pathetic sight as the children were barely dressed, all malnourished and very unclean. Many in our group started telling that we should not encourage this and to do this we should avoid buying from them. They even started blaming the parents for sending them to do this job.
I agreed with them but felt that we should look into the other side to it. May be there is no one else to earn their bread, may be the elders are invalid or sick and therefore not able to go for work, or may be someone is taking advantage of these children to earn their living, or threatening them to do this etc. There may be many more reasons for this. If we make education compulsory these children may starve. I feel that we should address the root cause before taking up this problem. Giving money to the parents or caretakers or food in the schools may not serve and solve the problem because that will only encourage idleness and laziness. It may even encourage producing more and more children, which is more dangerous!! Nothing should be given free. Then the value of the thing is lost. One should earn it. One should work for it to realize the importance and value of it. Secondly the funds thus provided may not reach the really needed and may land in the hands of the intermediaries!!
First we should do a survey to assess the actual condition or situation. Then try to solve the problems before attempting to legitimize the laws or rules. We can take help of the NGOs for this. We should try to provide income generating training and jobs for them and arrange markets also for their products.
Education need not be in the schools alone. If we really want to educate the people, we can do it at their place during their free time. We can take help of again NGOs, retired teachers, and volunteers to go to their places in the evenings to teach them.
Here again just teaching them to read and write may not be sufficient. There is much more to teach and bring awareness in them regarding many things and areas. There are areas like health, hygiene, nutrition, values, personal cleanliness, medical facilities available, prevention and cure of various diseases, awareness of diseases like Cancer, AIDS, diabetes, various vaccinations available for children, the bad effect of smoking, chewing tobacco, immoral sex etc., moral values, rights and responsibilities of both men and women, how to live in a society with co-operation and friendliness, various threats (external and internal), epidemics, the myths and the blind beliefs that are prevalent among many in our society,etc.
Many states boast that they have achieved 100% literacy in their state. What do they mean by this? Just teaching each and everyone to write their names in their language or may be in English. Is this literacy? Are we aware that so much of illiteracy prevails regarding many things other than reading and writing? How many of us are trying to do in this line without thinking about personal gains? When some are ready to do such service, are we giving the right platform to do? Even if one is ready and willing to do some service, they are unaware of how to start and when and where to start? Is it not the duty of the people in power to make use of such people and do the needful? What is preventing? Is it lack of awareness or lack of willingness or shortage of personal gains or anything else?
I am unaware and want an answer.
