Dont Visit Australia, Warning issued to Indians

Posted by Shane On January - 29 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur Friday cautioned Indian students against visiting Australia for the moment following the string of attacks on Indian nationals.

‘We are doing all that we can. An advisory has been issued not to visit Australia…,’ Preneet Kaur told reporters, reiterating that Indian students should stay away from Australia.

‘We are pressurising the Australian government to find the reasons behind the attacks, why have they happened and how they have happened. The reasons behind them (attacks) should be investigated.’

Her comments came as the body of Ranjodh Singh, a fruit picker, who was killed on Dec 29 was flown into Delhi on Friday. Ranjodh Singh was set alight and left to die in the New South Wales farming town of Griffith. Three Indians have been arrested for the crime.

‘I think they (Australians) are open now to investigation taking place because of the meeting between foreign minister S.M. Krishna and his counterpart in London,’ said Preneet Kaur.

‘The first meeting of the joint working group will be over the weekend in the state of Victoria. The attacks on taxi drivers are also something not really acceptable to us Indians and the Indian government.’

Krishna conveyed to his counterpart Stephen Smith in London, where both the ministers were taking part in a conference on Afghanistan, concerns about the attacks on Indian students continuing unabated despite high-level assurances.

Sources said Krishna had told Smith that the incidents of violence against Indians had resulted in public resentment and the attacks, if left unaddressed, could cast a shadow on bilateral relations.

The government had earlier this month issued an advisory warning students heading to Australia for studies and those already in the country.

The ministry of external affairs cautioned students that incidents of violence had started affecting the larger Indian community in Australia.

The advisory came days after accounting graduate Nitin Garg was knifed to death, the first fatality in the attacks.

Bollywood Superstar ShahRukh Khan has made into the skies. Wonder how? A crater in moon has been named after Shah Rukh Khan by the  International Lunar Geographic Society.

This has been approved by the International Astronomical Union, which has a final say with regard to the naming of craters on the moon. The crater “has been given the honorary designation as the Crater S R Khan on the occasion of Mr Khan’s 44th birthday” on November 2, 2009, the society said.

According to the society, the crater was named following a deluge of petitions from Shah Rukh’s admirers from India and around the world. Incidentally, one of his dedicated admirers has already presented him with a piece of the moon by buying him land there.

With a crater named after him, Shah Rukh now joins the ranks of eminent personalities like Nobel laureate C V Raman, father of the Indian space programme Vikram Sarabhai, father of the Indian nuclear programme Homi Bhabha and other luminaries like Meghnad Saha after whom craters have been named.

The decision has triggered a mixed response within the scientific community, with the father of the Indian moon mission Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan supporting it, but president of the National Space Society, Suresh Naik, describing it as “shocking”. In another vein, a young schoolgirl commented, “I think another crater on the moon should be named after Amitabh Bachchan, since he is also a great actor.”

Secretary of the Indian chapter of the Moon Society, Pradeep Mohandas, shared Kasturirangan’s view. “I think it is not a bad idea since it reflects the thinking of the new generation of young Indians,” he said.

Kasturirangan told TOI on Sunday from New Delhi that Shah Rukh is extremely popular and a symbol of national pride.

“I do see a rationale behind this decision. He is a kind of ambassador for India and this reflects the way India views him,” he said.

In the end its a party time for India and for all the fans of SRK

The rumors that Actor Johnny Deep is dead is all a fake. He is doing just great and is currently working on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

What happened to Mininova site?  This question has been arised between the Content downloaders online .  Well , the answer for that is , “mininova has stricted it service to content distribution after a fallout in court”.

Another Torrent site down. Yep, the pressure from Entertainment Industry has taken a toll on the torrent sites.  The other torrent sites which is most visited  thepiratebay.org has been stopped in many countries.

Another famous site zamunda.net is no longer available.

The Following message has been given in mininova site.

Hi all,

Today is an important day in the history of Mininova. From now on, we are limiting Mininova.org to our Content Distribution service. By doing so, we comply with the ruling of the Court of Utrecht of last August.

Unfortunately the court ruling leaves us no other option than to take our platform offline, except for the Content Distribution service. According to the verdict (Dutch link) we have to prevent uploads of torrents to Mininova that refer to certain titles or to similar-looking titles. We’ve been testing some filtering systems the last couple of months, but we found that it’s neither technically nor operationally possible to implement a 100% working filter system. Therefore, we decided that the only option is to limit Mininova to Content Distribution torrents from now on. We are still considering an appeal at this moment.

We launched our Content Distribution service in 2007. This service allows producers and artists to easily publish and distribute their content for free through Mininova. The launch of Content Distribution has proven to be a success. Countless content owners have used Content Distribution to distribute their content (e.g. albums and documentaries) for free to millions of users. For example, the Dutch band Silence is Sexy released their complete album on Mininova and received the Interactive Award 2009 for doing so. The Dutch television broadcaster VPRO decided to start using Content Distribution in 2009 in order to distribute documentaries.

We would like to thank you for your support. Especially everyone that contributed to Mininova receives a big “thank you!” for the effort! We hope to keep welcoming you on Mininova and our other projects (e.g. Snotr, Dispostable).

Thanks! The Mininova staff  ”

susan estrich plastic surgery

In the end, it all comes down to who is more important.

That is the inevitable conclusion reading Susan Estrich’s volley in the War Against Christmas: Merry Christmas INDENVERTIMES.com December 23rd 2009.

This article is basically a mildly- phrased but lethal claim that Christmas symbols should be driven from public property:

I don’t lose sleep over creches — or menorahs — in public places.

But I can’t understand why my tax money should be used on either… government shouldn’t be buying religious symbols to put in public places.

with perfunctory reference to the Constitution. But Estrich goes on to reveal her attitude is not at all derived from objective consideration of that much-misused document, but is a matter of – Revenge.

When I was a little girl, I was told that I couldn’t play Mary in our (public) school play — even though I had the longest hair, which would have guaranteed me the part — because I was Jewish. I went home crying, and my parents pointed out that Mary was Jewish, too.

I flatly do not believe this story as it stands. Susan Estrich was born in December 1952, and grew up in Marblehead, Massachusetts, a wealthy town in a liberal, cosmopolitan state. This means this alleged incident would have occurred in the early 1960s.

The early ‘60s in Marblehead were not the 1920s in the rural South. The basic structure of the Holocaust story had been well publicized. Israel was half a generation old, and from 1960-62 was engaged in the trial and execution of the kidnapped Adolph Eichmann, reaping immense publicity. Open anti-Semitism was totally out of fashion.

I suppose it is possible the teacher might, out of sensitivity, have asked Estrich to consider if she really wanted the role under the circumstances. Actually, if she looked anything like she does now, she might have been passed over because her appearance was insufficiently authentic.

(Ironically, it is common cause amongst the founders of NeoConservatism, a generation older than Estrich, to reminisce gleefully about the success their Jewish classmates had in securing the key roles in the Christmas pageants then held, incredibly enough, in the NY public schools. I seem to recollect a discussion of this in one of Norman Podhoretz’s autobiographies, but my books are not to hand.)

However, Estrich has shown her hand.

Insisting that the government wish those of us who aren’t Christian a “merry Christmas”… (leaves) those of us who don’t celebrate this holiday feeling excluded and disfavored.

As she more directly says in Happy Hanukkah Creators.com Dec 10 2009

As a kid, I hated Christmas. I was so completely and totally jealous of my Christian friends who celebrated this magical holiday and exchanged big gifts that I would get depressed every Christmas season

So there we are. So that a few little Susan Estrichs should not be upset, and, as the Happy Hanukkah column documents, bigger Susan Estrichs should not have to trouble themselves keeping Christmas contamination out of their homes, the traditional procedures of Christmas celebration which have bolstered and given pleasure to the immensely larger Christian majority for decades must be eradicated, reinterpreting the Constitution along the way.

As I said earlier this campaign in War against Christmas: Getting Serious

Is that really a wise way to frame this debate?

Martin Luther king jr day

Posted by Shane On January - 18 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

While most of us celebrate the fact that Monday, January 18th is Martin Luther King, Jr, Day, did you know that it actually took 15 years for Congressman John Conyers and others to lobby for this day to become a nationally recognized day?

The bill was introduced to congress just 4 days after Dr. King was shot, but it wasn’t signed into law by President Ronald Reagan until Nov. 2, 1983. In the interim, several states (including Illinois, Massachusetts, and Connecticut) had passed their own versions of the holiday to celebrate Dr. King’s life and legacy.

Today, MLK day is designed to celebrate not only Dr. King’s birthday (which is actually on January 15th) but also to recognize civil service, and, civil rights: two things Dr. King fought hard for and believed in.

Dr. King is most widely known for his “I have a dream speech” but he also often said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: what are you doing for others?”

So on this day of service, reflection, and remembrance, what are you doing to help your community and those around you? Tell us by leaving a comment below!
