The topic of Titanic can never be put to rest. After nearly a 100 years, people want to rebuilt the lost gem. An Australian billionaire, Clive Palmer today said that all he wants to do now is to construct Titanic II which will be exact replica of Titanic and will make it’s first voyage by 2016.

Palmer, a self-made mining billionaire, said he had commissioned state-owned Chinese company CSC Jinling Shipyard to construct Titanic II with the same dimensions as its predecessor.

“It will be every bit as luxurious as the original Titanic but of course it will have state-of-the-art 21st century technology and the latest navigation and safety systems,” Palmer said in a statement.

“Titanic II will sail in the northern hemisphere and her maiden voyage from England to North America is scheduled for late 2016.”

He added that he had invited the Chinese navy to escort the Titanic II to New York.

The announcement comes just weeks after the 100th anniversary of the sinking of Titanic, which went down on April 15, 1912 after striking an iceberg on its first voyage, from Southampton to New York.

Palmer said the new ship would be a tribute to the spirit of the men and women who worked on the original, which sank with the loss of 1,514 passengers and crew.

“These people produced work that is still marvelled at more than 100 years later and we want that spirit to go on for another 100 years,” he said.

Titanic was commissioned by White Star Line and was the largest liner in the world at the time.

Palmer said he has established his own shipping company, Blue Star Line, with the new vessel having the same specifications as its predecessor — 270 metres long (885 feet), 53 metres high and weighing some 40,000 tonnes.

It will have 840 rooms and nine decks with design work in conjunction with an historical research team underway. No figure was given on how much it would cost.

The only changes to the original would be below the water line including welding and not riveting, a bulbous bow for greater fuel efficiency, diesel generation and enlarged rudder and bow thrusters for increased manoeuvrability.

“Titanic II will be the ultimate in comfort and luxury with on-board gymnasiums and swimming pools, libraries, high class restaurants and luxury cabins,” Palmer said.

The ship would also include an exhibition room which will be located in the space of the original’s coal boilers which will showcase his home state of Queensland.

Palmer is estimated to be Australia’s fifth richest person, worth more than Aus$5 billion (US$5.2 billion), thanks to his vast coal and other mining assets in Queensland and Western Australia.

He has also branched out into tourism and owns the luxury Coolum resort on the Sunshine Coast, while recently saying he wants to move into the media industry, a sector dominated by Fairfax and Rupert Murdoch’s News Limited.

His decision to commission a Chinese shipbuilding yard, which will also construct other luxury liners for the tycoon, reinforces his ties to the country, which is a key buyer of his coal and iron ore.

“The Chinese are renowned for building commercial cargo and container ships,” he said.

“China currently produces around two to three percent of the world’s luxury ships but is looking to challenge the Europeans who have around 75 percent of this market.

“The Chinese ship building industry with our assistance wants to be a major player in this market.”

The original Titanic was built in Belfast.

Fast food giant Kentucky Fried Chicken has been ordered to pay Aus$8 million (US$8.3 million) to an Australian girl who suffered severe brain damage and was paralysed after eating a Twister wrap.

Monika Samaan was seven when she suffered salmonella encephalopathy — a brain injury linked to food poisoning that also left her with a blood infection and septic shock — in October 2005.

Several other family members also fell ill and they claimed Samaan’s injuries, which include severe cognitive, motor and speech impairment and spastic quadriplegia, were caused by a chicken Twister wrap from a Sydney KFC outlet.

The New South Wales Supreme Court ruled in the family’s favour a week ago and on Friday ordered KFC to pay the girl Aus$8 million in damages plus legal costs.

In a statement, the family’s lawyer George Vlahakis said they were relieved the battle was over.

“Monika’s severe brain damage and severe disability has already exhausted the very limited resources of the family,” he said.

“Monika is now a big girl and they are finding it increasingly difficult to lift her and to look after her basic needs as well as look after Monika’s younger siblings.

“The compensation ordered is very much needed. KFC have to date been determined that Monika does not receive a cent.”

Last week KFC indicated it will appeal the decision but is yet to do so.

During the trial, Justice Stephen Rothman said the chicken became contaminated “because of the failure of one or more employees of KFC” to follow proper preparation rules, which he described as “negligent”.

President Barack Obama said Tuesday that the US middle class deserves tax cuts, while people with incomes above $1 million per year should pay at least 30 percent in taxes.

“Congress needs to make the Buffet rule a reality,” the president said. “This is common sense. If you make more than $1 million a year, you should pay a tax rate of at least 30 percent.”

The president said that Congress should not stop there and now has to approve a law so that the victims of the mortgage bubble can refinance their debt, given that banks are now enjoying historically low interest rates.

He also called for measures to support small and medium businesses who want to export their products instead of favouring those who send their production operations offshore.

Obama, who is seeking re-election in November, urged Americans to continue pressuring their representatives in Congress to make advances in the economy and improvements for the working class.

“Americans do not have the luxury of putting off tough decisions,” he said. “There is a lot more we can do if we want to build an economy where every American can have a chance to find a job.”

So, if Israel is so scared as per their statements, the same fear Iran would have felt decades ago when Israel successfully developed its nuclear bombs.

When the world power was used cleverly by the Israeli dictatorship to invade Afghan and Iraq, the world sank into recession, job loss, mass suicides, debts.

How much debt does your Country have? Had US stopped its free distribution of money to Israel and Egypt, they would have paid the nations entire debt by now.

Oh yes, Why did they favored Egypt Ex President Mubarak and gave huge money to them next to Israel? Well, you might be knowing this.

Egypt blocked its border for Palestine, stopped the food supply to Palestine people in one end whereas Israel ripped down the heart  of Palestine and committed mass crime against Humanity on the other end.

Besides, the only country that is capable of destroying US with is nuclear weapons is Israel and not IRAN.

Why do you think Britain, US and others are continually worried and are now opting out of the center stage?

How many times did the Israeli leadership defied US and its allies, but  US treated her with respect and care. Had it been any other nation, US would have declared WAR and would have eliminated the nation.

Microsoft has decided to shed the 20 year trademark logo and have unveiled a new logo for its Windows 8.  Giving a new meaning to the word ‘Windows’ or to say Bringing back the Microsoft logo to match the word Windows,the message from Microsoft Windows 8 team seems like Business.

Usually, On hearing the word ‘Microsoft’ , the first  to strike our senses is the traditional Microsoft four flag logo.  But it will not be anymore.

“The Windows logo is a strong and widely recognized mark but when we stepped back and analyzed it, we realized an evolution of our logo would better reflect our Metro style design principles and we also felt there was an opportunity to reconnect with some of the powerful characteristics of previous incarnations,” said Sam Moreau, a user experience director on Microsoft’s Windows 8 team, in a company blog post.

The new logo, Moreau said, is a throwback of sorts to the first two logos of Windows, which looked not like a waving flag but rather two color windows, as you might find in a home or office.

“‘Windows’ really is a beautiful metaphor for computing and with the new logo we wanted to celebrate the idea of a window, in perspective,” he said. “Microsoft and Windows are all about putting technology in people’s hands to empower them to find their own perspectives. And that is what the new logo was meant to be.

About 100 people are feared trapped inside a ferry that sank in rough weather off Papua New Guinea, a rescue official said on Friday, a day after the crowded boat went down with about 350 people on board.

Rescuers plucked 238 people from the sea off PNG’s northeast coast after the MV Rabaul Queen was hit by three large waves and quickly sank, Rony Naigu, a rescue official from Papua New Guinea’s maritime safety authority, said on Friday.

While a definitive passenger list was not available, rescuers believed 352 people were on board the ferry when it sank and about 100 people were thought to have been trapped inside, Naigu told Reuters by telephone.

Naigu, who spent Thursday at the scene, said survivors told how the ferry rolled and sank in deep water after it was hit by the waves in stormy conditions.

Scores of passengers survived by clinging to debris before being picked up by at least six merchant vessels that diverted to the scene after being alerted by Australian maritime safety authorities.

“We found a number of (opened liferaft) capsules with no people in them,” Naigu said.

As rescuers resumed their search on Friday, relatives of those missing vented their anger over a lack of information from authorities, Australian media reported.

Survivors had been taken to Lae on PNG’s north coast early on Friday, said Nurur Rahman, acting chief of Papua New Guinea’s maritime authority.

“As you would expect people who have been in the water for such a long time have a bit of dehydration, and they are very tired,” Rahman told Reuters by telephone.

No bodies had been recovered on Thursday before nightfall halted the search, he added.

Police in West New Britain said relatives angry at the lack of information about their family members on the ship threw stones at the offices of the ferry operators, Rabaul Shipping, Australian Broadcasting Corporation Radio reported.

“There were a lot of people crying and then they wanted to know the fate of their loved ones, the people actually who were on board the Rabaul ship,” Inspector Samson Siguyaru said.
