Automated Teller Machine (ATM)
Automated Teller Machine (ATM)

Yep its true, Russia leading computer security company Kaspersky has warned banks about a new software virus that infects Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) to steal money from bank accounts of their users. Kaspersky claimed that they have discovered a new virus in the network of several bank ATMs.

So what does a virus do in an ATM ? Looks like its all about gathering ATM user’s information and sending it back to its creator and of course moving funds. But all these seems to be future plans for the programmer of the virus. Now its all about infection of the ATM system and survival. Now that could be real serious problem. But this particular virus only infects the popular American “Diebold” brand of ATMs which are used in Russia and Ukraine. Also the infection level is minimal. But individual card holders will not be able to detect whether an ATM is infected or not.

“This is a malicious program intended to infect and survive in ATMs. It is possible that new software will appear, aimed at illegitimately using banking information and removing funds” an official of the Kaspersky Lab was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

On analyzing the programming code of the virus there is a high probability that the programmer comes from one of the former Soviet republics.

But it seems the problem is already under control as banks can run security software to find out if their machines are at risk.

“Tata nano world cheapest car launched “

The wait for the launch of the world’s cheapest car has finally been over. The car which is said to be a Middle class people ‘vehicle of the Generation’ is Launched. Ratan Tata who is the founder of Tata Nano has described the Nano as a “milestone”. Costing just 100,000 rupees ($1,979; £1,366), the Nano will now go on sale across India next month, with deliveries starting in July.

The initial plan of 100,000 car sales has been made. The people who wish to buy this car have to book it first and should be within the 100,000 people who booked for the purchase. The sales is limited folks and if your interested you need to hurry .Failing to book the car now you need to wait months for the purchase again. The Nano car is of various types the cost of car which is 100000 Rs is a standard car.The other version like Deluxe car which cost slightly higher is also available Tata visions that the Nano car which is 3 meter long will make people change their way of transport from motorcycle to Car.

“I think we are at the gates of offering a new form of transport to the people of India and later, I hope, other markets elsewhere in the world,” Mr Tata added.”I hope it will provide safe, affordable four-wheel transportation to families who till now have not been able to own a car”.

Though Ratan Tata describes that the nano car will be the least polluting car of India, Environmentalists fear that this launch of car will add to the misery of Traffic problem and pollution in already pollution India.

Features:

The four-door Nano has a 33bhp, 624cc engine at the rear. The basic model has no airbags, air conditioning, radio, or power steering. However, more luxurious versions will be available. If the product is a success,it is said that Tata will find it tough to meet the demand.

The reason for this is the Nano project plan which can produce over 250,000 car in Gujarat is not yet opened and is scheduled to open next year. And the current plan can produce only 50000 car.Furthurmore, Ratan Tata faced many challenges in the constructing of Nano project. The problem at West Bengal was very toughest. Tata wasclaimed to have taken Farmers Land and the local politician was making this a Issue and it took nearly six months for talks ..An after the failure of the talks did the plan was shifted to Gujarat.

The profit for this Nano car cannot be achieved for nearly 6 years, analystics predict.

Bacteria Species Found outside the Atmosphere

Its getting exciting for the scientist who have been searching for extra terrestrial life outside the earth. The good news is  that the scientist from India have found 3 bacteria in stratosphere, according to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

These 3 bacteria are not found in Earth and are highly resistent  to ultra-violet rays. The scientist claim their founding 15km away from the  earth’s atmosphere and its near upper stratosphere.

The name of the bacteria has been named after the founders. While one of the species has been named Janibacter hoylei after astrophysicist Fred Hoyle, the second has been christened Bacillus isronensis recognising the ISRO’s contribution in balloon experiments which led to the discovery. The third has been named Bacillus aryabhata after the Indian astronomer.

Though the present study  doesnt prove the exsistence of the extra terrestrial life outside our Earth…It is considered a positive  note by the scientists.

The history of biscuits can be traced back to a recipe created by the Roman chef Apicius, in which “a thick paste of fine wheat flour was boiled and spread out on a plate. When it had dried and hardened it was cut up and then fried until crisp, then served with honey and pepper.”

The word ‘Biscuit’ is derived from the Latin words ‘Bis’ (meaning ‘twice’) and ‘Coctus’ (meaning cooked or baked). The word ‘Biscotti’ is also the generic term for cookies in Italian. Back then, biscuits were unleavened, hard and thin wafers which, because of their low water content, were ideal food to store.

As people started to explore the globe, biscuits became the ideal travelling food since they stayed fresh for long periods. The seafaring age, thus, witnessed the boom of biscuits when these were sealed in airtight containers to last for months at a time. Hard track biscuits (earliest version of the biscotti and present-day crackers) were part of the staple diet of English and American sailors for many centuries. In fact, the countries which led this seafaring charge, such as those in Western Europe, are the ones where biscuits are most popular even today. Biscotti is said to have been a favourite of Christopher Columbus who discovered America!

Making good biscuits is quite an art, and history bears testimony to that. During the 17th and 18th Centuries in Europe, baking was a carefully controlled profession, managed through a series of ‘guilds’ or professional associations. To become a baker, one had to complete years of apprenticeship – working through the ranks of apprentice, journeyman, and finally master baker. Not only this, the amount and quality of biscuits baked were also carefully monitored.

The English, Scotch and Dutch immigrants originally brought the first cookies to the United States and they were called teacakes. They were often flavoured with nothing more than the finest butter, sometimes with the addition of a few drops of rose water. Cookies in America were also called by such names as “jumbles”, “plunkets” and “cry babies”.

As technology improved during the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century, the price of sugar and flour dropped. Chemical leavening agents, such as baking soda, became available and a profusion of cookie recipes occurred. This led to the development of manufactured cookies.

Interestingly, as time has passed and despite more varieties becoming available, the essential ingredients of biscuits haven’t changed – like ’soft’ wheat flour (which contains less protein than the flour used to bake bread) sugar, and fats, such as butter and oil. Today, though they are known by different names the world over, people agree on one thing – nothing beats the biscuit!

Some interesting facts on the origin of other forms of biscuits:
The recipe for oval shaped cookies (that are also known as boudoir biscuits, sponge biscuits, sponge fingers, Naples biscuits and Savoy biscuits) has changed little in 900 years and dates back to the house of Savoy in the 11th century France. Peter the Great of Russia seems to have enjoyed an oval-shaped cookie called “lady fingers” when visiting Louis XV of France.

The macaroon – a small round cookie with crisp crust and a soft interior – seems to have originated in an Italian monastery in 1792 during the French Revolution.

SPRING-uhr-lee, have been traditional Christmas cookies in Austria and Bavaria for centuries. They are made from a simple egg, flour and sugar dough and are usually rectangular in shape. These cookies are made with a leavening agent called ammonium carbonate and baking ammonia.

The inspiration for fortune cookies dates back to the 12th and 13th Centuries, when Chinese soldiers slipped rice paper messages into moon cakes to help co-ordinate their defence against Mongolian invaders
