US now has more swine flu cases then Mexico

Posted by Tommy On May - 11 - 20091 COMMENT

The US now has 2532 confirmed cases of swine flu after a jump in figures in recent days official say. It is really a staggering increase, the cases are now up around 600 since Friday. This means the US has now surpassed Mexico as the most affected nation. In Mexico there are currently 1626 confirmed cases and it is trying to get back to normal but as far as US is concerned there is only three confirmed deaths whereas in Mexico there are at least 48 people who have died due to swine flu.

In Mexico people worked over the weekend to clean and disinfect primary schools which are due to resume classes after a two week break but this is not the same case in all the states in Mexico some states are planning on delaying the return to school for another week amid more suspected new cases.

Secondary schools and universities have already reopened last week as part of a gradual resumption of business after a shutdown of several days ordered by the Mexican government in a bid to stem the outbreak. Mexico was the first country where the outbreak of swine flu came to light. Globally now there are at least 4300 confirmed cases of swine flu across 30 different countries this includes China which on Monday reported its first case on the Chinese mainland.

Most of the cases in US has been mild with the third death being reported on Monday.

“More cases, more hospitalizations and more deaths from this outbreak will occur over the coming days and weeks, ” a CDC statement said.

“This increase in testing capacity is likely to result in an increase in the number of reported confirmed cases in this country which should provide a more accurate picture of the burden of disease in the United States,” the CDC said.

Get a Monitor to Monitor you!

Yep! Thats exactly what Japanese monitor maker Eizo Nanao Corporation has done. They have proudly announced their “EcoView Sense” feature in their monitors. So what does this “EcoView Sense” thingy do? To put it in layman’s terms its a motion detector. Its gonna detect whether a person is sitting in front of it.

So why do we need a motion detector in our monitors? Well, its all about saving power. At work and at home we are all in the habit of leaving our monitors on for long hours even when we don’t use them. But now if “EcoView Sense” senses that there is no movement or human activity for more than 40 seconds it immediately puts the monitor into sleep mode.

And yes, when it senses movement up to 120 centimeters to about 4 feet in front of it. It immediately resumes.

This feature is currently available in the just announced FlexScan 20-inch EV2023W and the 23-inch EV2303W. The FlexScan EV2023W is equipped with a VA panel with a 1600×900 native resolution, 178-degree viewing angles and 3000:1 contrast ratio. The EV2303W comes with a TN panel with a 1920×1080 native resolution, 160-degree viewing angles, and 1000:1 contrast ratio. Both monitors claim a 250 cd/m2 brightness, and come with one VGA and one DVI-D input. HDMI was not mentioned, as these are more business-centric displays. These are two of the world’s first monitors to receive the recently announced TCO Displays 5.0 Certification. Why should you care? Well, according to TCO, the tests used in the 5.0 spec are just plain tougher. Also, according to Eizo, these are the first Eizo products to achieve EPEAT Gold status.

Its all about energy-saving . These monitors are also equipped ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the displays brightness according to the amount of light in the room. Now this could be really useful. We don’t have to strain the hell out of eyes when we want to work on the computer just a little before going to bed.

The company is planning to build more compact models of the monitor. They are concerned about reducing the thickness of the monitor to make it more slim and also pack it in smaller packages.

Though this monitor might not be that appealing, it sure is loaded with features that will become a must have feature in all the monitors in the future. Eizo sure has made the first step in to the future.

The most promised move by American President Barack Obama in his election campaign is about to be implemented. President Obama promised to create job oppurtunities for American citizen within 2 years. Seeing American economy growth as top priority, he quoted of implementing tax to the companies that provide outsourcing to countries like India, china, etc.,

Obama announced that it is an end for the tax incentives for the companies that provide job overseas instead of creating a job vacancy in America. So far the companies who wished to implement a project in America should have to pay much tax, and so many american companies started to outsource their project for other countries like India. The tax policy favoured them,to say, the outsourcing companies were asked to pay less tax.Keeping up to his promise, Barack Obama reconsidering the tax poilicy will now award the tax incentives for the companies that create job oppurtunity in America itself.

“We will stop letting American companies that create jobs overseas take deductions on their expenses when they do not pay any American taxes on their profits,” Obama said at White House announcing the international tax policy reform.

“We will use the savings to give tax cuts to companies that are investing in research and development here at home so that we can jump start job creation, foster innovation, and enhance America’s competitiveness,” Obama said.If this is implemented, the most hard hit country will be india who depends on America for development in IT field. Obama quoted that, its a tax code that says you should pay lower taxes if you create a job in Bangalore,India, than if you create one in Buffalo, New York.”

US President said: “The way we make our businesses competitive is not to reward American companies operating overseas with a roughly two per cent tax rate on foreign profits; a rate that costs taxpayers tens of billions of dollars a year.”

Obama still wants the American companies to be the top competitive throught out the world, but it  should help american citizens by creating  vacancies and not oversea countries. Obamas reckons that over 210 billion dollar will be saved in  next ten years by his series of tax reforms.
