Gidget

Gidget the Chihuahua, star of 1990s Taco Bell commercials has died. She was 15. Gidget suffered a stroke late Tuesday night at her trainer’s home in Santa Clarita, Calif., and had to be euthanized, said Karin McElhatton, owner of Studio Animal Services, which owned the dog.

Gidget starred in the Taco Bell commercial in the year 1997. Gidget was seen as a male dog who proclaims: “Yo quiero Taco Bell,” Spanish for “I want Taco Bell.”

This was supposed to be a single ad. But due to the popularity of the advertisment, Taco Bell decided to shoot more ads using Gidget. This turned out to become a massive campaign for Taco Bell that lasted 3 years, from 1997 to 2000.

New Zealand Moving towards Australia

Scientist say South Island is moving towards Australia

New Zealand , a place known for beautiful tourist spot has been hit by a massive earthquake of range 7.8 Magnitude. The luck factor here is , no heavy damages for life and property were reported.

New Zealand is known to have  sparse population when compared to other country in the world. This might have helped them survive the disaster of loss to life and property.

Apart from this, Scientist have discovered a shocking proof that the recent earthquake has tilted New Zealand and its now pushed closer to Australia.

This sounds miracle, isnt it? In order for a continent or island to move  its direction it will take  thousands of years and its not a sudden Process. But thanks to this earthquake, the south New Zealand has been titled towards.

The Few Seconds massive earthquake has done the trick to move a country that would have certainly have taken centuries.

The Earthquake centered in the ocean near Resolution Island in the country’s Fiordland region, twisted South Island out of shape and moved its southern tip 12 inches (30 centimeters) closer to Australia, seismologist Ken Gledhill said.

Gledhill, director of government-owned GNS Science’s “GeoNet” national earthquake monitoring project, said the island’s geographic shift showed the immensity of the forces involved.

“Basically, it’s taken us closer to Australia,” he told National Radio. “The country is deforming all the time because of being on the plate boundary, but this has done it in a few seconds, rather than waiting hundreds of years.”

Now whether the movement of the  country will damage the environment of the nation is still in question and is cannot be predicted.

Tourists

AN angry tourist turned on staff at Edinburgh Castle after they told him that his son could not fire the One o’Clock Gun.

The incident was revealed after Historic Scotland disclosed that 30 of its workers had been physically or verbally attacked by visitors over the last three years.

Black eyes and broken teeth were among the injuries suffered in other incidents.

One woman, who works at Edinburgh Castle, said: “You’d be surprised how angry people can get when they visit. I’ve seen visitors get hot under the collar from everything from the shop running out of a certain size of T-shirt to a man’s son not being allowed to fire the One o’Clock Gun.”

The documents, released under freedom of information laws, did not reveal at which Historic Scotland site each incident had taken place.

The incident logs show that in March 2007 one steward was beaten up by a visitor asking them to move a car parked illegally.

No to Guns

A five-year-old boy died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds in Hamilton, Ohio, the Journal News newspaper reported online.

The death was from an ‘accidental, self-inflicted gunshot’, Debbie Lacey, the coroner’s investigator, was quoted as saying late Monday.

The boy, Zachariah Nesbitt, shot himself Saturday night at his home with a 9mm Glock handgun. The bullet went through his lung, Lacey said.

The boy died later Saturday night.

Police were investigating. In the call to emergency services, a man believed to be Zachariah’s father, David Nesbitt, was quoted as saying: ‘Oh, my God, no. He got my (expletive) gun out of the closet.

Hell, this is what happens if the parents are not careful. A Young child life would have been saved, if the parents were careful. This will be a lesson to all of you people.  Keep the poisonous and harmful machines away from your children.

Sony Bids $50M for MJ Rehearsal Video

Michael Jackson's Final Rehearsal

Michael Jackson in Final Rehearsals

There have been reports all over the internet. I don’t know where these things started but mostly they will turn out to be true. The reports suggest that Sony has made a bid of $50 Million for the video of Michael Jackson’s final rehearsal videos for his ‘This is it’ concert. The video footage is around 80-hours long. The video is currently in the possession of AEG and the Jackon’s Estate. The reports also suggest that the reason why Sony wants these videos is because they are planning to produce a movie with these footages.

Whats more ? The movie could be in theaters before the end of the year, and possibly as early as October.

One of the video footages also contain the 3D version of ‘Thriller’ but its not clear whether this will also be included in the movie.

A bidding war erupted in Hollywood after concert promoter, AEG Entertainment, shopped the footage to movie studios late last week, blogger Nikki Finke first reported on Deadline Hollywood Daily.

Its not just Sony thats trying to get its hands on these footages. It also seems like Paramount, Universal, 20th Century Foxand Warner Bros are trying to make a bid for the footages.

Looks like Michael Jackson is all GOLD even after his death.  One thing is for sure, I would really want to have a look at those footages as they ARE the final performances of the King of POP.

Bypass Surgery can be a Killer

Bypass Surgery can be a Killer!

Bypass Surgery can be a Killer!

The popular bypass surgery that has been used on millions of patients worldwide to fix a vein blockage leading to the heart and thus saving millions of lives can actually be an killer. The doctors have so far used endoscope to remove leg veins for heart bypass surgery appears to actually damage veins and make the patients 52% more likely to die within the next three years.

Endoscope is the latest technique that are used by doctors to remove the vien from the the leg with much less pain and scar. Endoscope is a technique in which the doctors use guided cameras into the body and with the help of it remove the vein causing much less scar compared to the traditional method known as the “open harvesting”.

About 70% of bypass patients now have the leg vein removed endoscopically, in part because it produces much less scarring and infection to the leg.

Now doctors have reported that this technique can actually damage the veins and might be responsible for future heart attacks to the patients. The study of 3000 patients found veins removed by the endoscope the technique was significantly more likely to become clogged within a year or so.

At the 12 to 18 month mark, 47% of the patients had at least one of their bypass grafts fail, versus 38% for whom the blood vessels were removed by the older method. Most patients had two or three grafts. The older method does seems to be safe statistically, but its purly dependant on the patient. I don’t think it is right to call the Endoscope Bypass surgery a killer. It is a life safer. It just helps the doctors extend the life of the patient. But untimatelly every one has to die. So extending the life involves risk but it has to be done or else the patient will die  sooner.
