According to Danny Knobler of CBS Sports:

The Braves have acquired outfielder Rick Ankiel and reliever Kyle Farnsworth from the Royals, CBSSports.com has learned.

Apparently Gregor Blanco, Jesse Chavez, and Tim Collins are going to the Royals. KC also paying some salary. Very interesting.

I initially like this trade quite a bit. Farnsworth is a hugemongous upgrade over Chavez, even though he has a bit of a checkered past with Atlanta. Ankiel is likely a player with a lot more potential than Blanco in the power department (but with a checkered past against Atlanta).

We don’t give up any major prospects — Collins was nice, but we hardly got to know him and we have lefty reliever depth to spare.

Good trade to upgrade a couple of positions. Not an impact trade at this point, but if Ankiel can harness his power back in the NL, then it could be a better trade. Ankiel has been hitting good lately.

Farnsworth has a club option for 2011 for $5.25 million, but since he was traded he has a clause in his contract that allows him to void option and take $0.5 million buyout. Ankiel also has 2011 option, that is a mutual option for $6 million, with a $0.5 million buyout.

So, we could have both of these guys for next year as well… if we choose.

The Braves also made a minor league trade, acquiring outfielder Wilkin Ramirez from the Tigers for a player to be named later.

TCS offcampus in August?

Posted by Shane On July - 31 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Unconfirmed reports are trending online that TCS is to hire 2009/2010 passed out candidates who have completed either BE/BTech/MCA.

Though TCS themselves reported that there is a offcampus on the way in the first week of September, rumors are widespread that its august.

Well,Freshers hope for the best.

Reliance group of companies is in verge of expanding themselves as an entertainment giant by striking  a theme park project.

What type of theme park can we expect from Reliance?

It is said that Reliance is in talks with Universal to strike a $1.5 billion dollar deal to construct  a park in India that is similar to the park recently opened by Universal “The Wizarding World of  Harry Potter”.

If the deal is done, then we could see a theme park with  the main focus on  “Harry Potter”, “Spiderman” in the major cities of India.

Reliance’s Big Entertainment subsidiary and Universal, a unit of General Electric Co.’s NBC Universal, added, we still are discussing terms, but could reach a deal this year.

A Reliance spokesman said his company doesn’t comment on market speculation. Universal declined to comment.

Who control Reliance Industries:

Reliance Industries, founded in India is run by two brothers Anil Ambani and Mukesh Ambani. Both the brothers are the top most Billionaire in India and certainly among the top 10 in the world.

The information on Reliance companies is very vast and it  needs way much of information to cover up so i have added the history behind Reliance companies from Wikipedia that can be read by Clicking here.

If the deal is signed, then we could see the park construction in the cities like Mumbai and New Delhi. The park construction will however take 3 years.

I think this is a wonderful project to start with. Reliance will soon be swimming in the profits of this park.

The NL Central figured to be a battleground once again this year, but few, I’m sure, had the Reds in it as late as July. Yet there they are, just a half game behind the St. Louis Cardinals. We’ve heard that the Reds probably won’t make a deal, which leaves the window open for St. Louis. Adding Jake Westbrook could be a move that helps propel them to the Central crown.

The Cardinals have a strong top of the rotation with Chris Carpenter, Adam Wainwright, and Jaime Garcia, but have had trouble filling in the rest of the staff. Brad Penny, who was pitching well before suffering an oblique injury, has faced further setbacks during rehab and his return this season is questionable. Kyle Lohse might return soon, but he was horrible in nine starts this year. Jeff Suppan hasn’t produced the worst results, but with 1.8 homers per nine and more walks than strikeouts he’s a disaster waiting to happen.

Garcia presents an additional problem. While he has pitched better than anyone could have hoped this season, he does have a workload limit. His career high in innings pitched came in 2006 when he threw 155 innings in Class-A. He threw 122 innings in 2008, but last year, because of injury, he managed just 37.2 innings. The Cardinals might keep him in the rotation through the year, but it’s tough to project a pitcher heading into uncharted — or at least recently uncharted — waters. Adding another starter helps hedge that concern.

Westbrook hasn’t had a very good season, a 4.65 ERA to go with a 4.67 FIP and 4.41 xFIP. He missed all of 2009 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, so it’s possible that his results improve as he continues to pitch. He hasn’t realized that type of trend through the season’s first four months, though, so perhaps a significant improvement is a bit optimistic. He is, however, a sinkerballer who will work with a pitching coach who has helped many pitchers develop the pitch successfully. Perhaps his pairing with Dave Duncan will help him rediscover his old form.

It wasn’t all gain for St. Louis, though. As part of the deal they’ll send their starting right fielder, Ryan Ludwick, to San Diego. He’s part of a powerful outfield trio that can not only hit, but also play defense. Ludwick’s three-year UZR/150 is 4.7, which puts him fifth among major league right fielders. It looks like the Cardinals will run with Jon Jay in right. He has hit well in limited time this year, but considering his minor league numbers (.799 OPS in 1767 PA) and his current BABIP (.446). The move will also give Allen Craig, the team’s No. 7 prospect heading into the season, a chance. His minor league numbers are a bit better than Jay’s, a .883 OPS with even better numbers in 829 AAA PA, so this could be his opportunity to claim his spot in right.

Nintendo seems to be all set to launch its 3DS video game handheld. But it seems it wants to keep the suspense on. So far, it was only revealed that the launch date and the price for 3DS will be made public only on September 29th.

Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo 3DS

According to Bloomberg Japan (via news tracker/translator Andriasang), Nintendo says it’ll tell all at the end of September, including when you get it, where you can get it, how many it’s planning to ship, and how much it’ll cost.

Since E3, we’ve heard rumors the 3DS could sell for as much as $250 and even £200 in the UK, but The Official Nintendo Magazine reports that figure could actually be high. Nintendo UK’s marketing manager James Honeywell apparently told ONM that while the company hasn’t made any formal price announcements, “the Nintendo DSi is available for around £129.99 [and] the Nintendo DSi XL, with the larger screens, is around £159.99.”

“So obviously, it’s going to fit, kind of, somewhere within that kind of architecture.”

The takeaway: $250 certainly doesn’t “fit” in the current DSi price architecture. The U.S. DSi sells for $169.99, while the DSi XL goes for $189.99.

Call it $200 or less then?

foam car that can float on water

Posted by Shane On July - 27 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

A car that provides a strong protective cage covered with soft foam on both the outside and inside has been one of the most intriguing vehicles competing for the Progressive Insurance Automotive X Prize, a competition to see who can design the best 100-miles-per-gallon car.

All competitors have their eyes on 10 million dollars in prize money but the team behind the foam-wrapped Spira4u have yet another goal – to save lives.

Spira founder Lon Ballard, an American working in Thailand, said more than half the fatalities on the road in large cities and developing countries are pedestrians and motorcyclists. So the concept behind the Spira4u was to create a safer alternative to motorcycles and scooters for the Asian market – hence the foam.

“I pursued this foam concept to make a vehicle safer for both occupants and impacted persons,” Fox News quoted Ballard, as saying.

Based on a Kawasaki motorcycle engine and transmission, Spira4u has a honeycomb core surrounded with a fibreglass-composite structure and covered in soft polyurethane foam. It weighs 500 pounds and seats two.

Before the competition, the Spira4u also took some unconventional tests: the car took a dip in the ocean (it can float) and was loaded with a pig carcass and rammed by a truck.

Ballard and his team have been working on the vehicle for two years.

“I’ve worked 60 to 80 hours a week” during that time, Ballard said, and invested about 200,000 dollars.

Although the Spira4u was eliminated from the X Prize competition over the weekend, it will still appear at the X Prize technology demonstration and finale on Sept. 15 in Washington, DC.

2012 doomsday and Nibiru update

Posted by Shane On July - 27 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Constant searches and voices of concern are seen throughout the world about planet x or Nibiru and its 2012 effects.

I will give the best description through question and answers way. :) :) :)

1) Has Nibiru or Planet X spotted in the solar system?

Ans) No

2) How do you say that Nibiru or Planet X is not heading this way?

Ans) If it is really heading towards earth, we should have seen it with our naked eyes by now. So far, as i am aware no such reports have been made claiming the exposure to Planet X or Nibiru.

If some guy has spotted Nibiru, it will be a you tube sensation and media favorite. I am sure that, thousands of thousands of astronomers, people have thrusted their 2 eyes to the heavens in search of Nibiru.

If they come across Nibiru, you will be updated.

3) What about solar storms that is expected to hit earth around 2013?

Ans) Solar storms is a part of sun activity , lets say, for billions of years since its formation. And Earth has survived it till now. So if any solar storms is expected in future. Earth will again survive it.

The maximum damage the solar storms can cause to man kind is by destroying the satellites.  Dont worry NASA has already worked on this scenario and has adopted a technique that will prevent solar storm from damaging our satellites.

4) What about Pole Shift?

Ans) As per NASA scientist, pole shift is bound to happen but not for a million year from now. So nothing to worry on.

5) Why are people continuously talking about this 2012 doomsday?

Ans) Because, every one have became a fantasy greek after seeing movies like Harry Potter,2012, apocalypse, 28 days later, day after tomorrow, deep impact.

They simply could not stop themselves from imagining some fantasy climax.

6) What about religious prophecies pointing towards 2012?

Ans) No religion on Earth point a doomsday date to 2o12. Let, it be Christianity, Islam, Judaism, no date have been pointed out.

Though the Religions  continuously warn us about the day where man will see the apocalypse, they all end up stating “Only God has knowledge about the hour”. [P.S.  if your an atheist skip this question]

7) Geez, i have so far believed that Nibiru will wipe out the mankind? I lived in fear?

Ans) Stand before mirror. Take deep relief type of breath. Go out. Enjoy your day. Go to work.
