Narayana Murthy, the man credited for revolutionizing the IT industry and contributing to the growth of Indian economy, is all set to retire on August 2011. KV Kamath is to succeed him.

Calling the new structure ‘a dream team’, the outgoing chairman Murthy told CNBC-TV18 in an exclusive interview, “I never considered to continue being on the board till the age of 70. Infy has done the right thing in selecting such a great team.”

While Kamath will be the new chief of the company till August 20, 2014, Kris Gopalakrishnan, the current CEO of Infosys, will take over as the executive co-chairman. SD Shibulal, the current chief operating officer, has taken over as the chief executive officer and managing director of Infosys.

Kamath, who has steered ICICI Bank to new heights over the past few years, Murthy, who will be chairman Emeritus said, wasn’t an outsider for Infosys. “His role is to oversee governance and will work to enhance customer, employee and investor command.”

In fact, the new structure has assured clear role for each individual and this will help Infosys become even bigger, he added.

The post of the chief operating officer has been left unattended. “The position is under consideration,” Murthy clarified adding that the board would soon take a decision whether to retain the position or not.

Money Control goes on to add the following transcript from the exclusive interview on CNBC-TV18. Also watch the accompanying videos.

Q: We heard Jeffrey Lehman say that the decision was to actually go beyond 65 as the retirement age, as far as Infosys’ top management is concerned. Why the decision not to continue to stay on till 70?

Murthy: At Infosys, we have always said that whatever decisions, we come to, will have to be come effective on a future basis.

Q: No retrospective action?

Murthy: If it was changed and I continued, it would not have looked that good. I think that’s the reason.

Q: But was it never a consideration?

Murthy: No, never. We had decided pretty early in forming the company, when we did in 1981, that all directors will retire at 60 and chairman will retire at 65, as long as he or she is from Infosys. I don’t think it’s proper to change its mid-stream.

Q: The last conversation that you and I had, you told me that it’s going to be a very emotional decision and an emotional moment for you to step down as the chairman of Infosys. In a sense you would be giving your daughter away. Infosys you consider to be your daughter. When I asked you who would be the successor, you said you would have to look for the most suitable boy for your daughter. You have got now three suitable boys that you found for your daughter. This is a problem of plenty, isn’t it?

Murthy: This is almost like Draupadi’s Swayamvara. We have got three extraordinary individuals who will continue to do the wonderful work that I have been doing in the past. So, therefore, I think Infosys has done the right thing. The nomination committee and the board has done the right thing in selecting such a wonderful team.

Q: Just to clarify matters Kamath comes in as a non-executive chairman and how long is the tenure for?

Murthy: We said three years starting from August 21, 2011 and ending on August 20, 2014. Then who knows. It could be three more years because remember we have changed the retirement age for the independent chairman to 70. He is still only 63, going on 64. Therefore, he still has his time.

Q: You always maintained a very stoic silence but today, this suspense is finally over. Take us through what was going through your mind over this period of 1 year and 4 months?

Kamath: This is a board decision so there is nothing that I could say at any point of time during the process when it was going on. I have shared this with Murthy right along that once I join the board I will serve it in any capacity that the board thinks it appropriate. There is no issue at all in context of what capacity I would serve. Whatever capacity the board wants I will serve it.

Finally, the decision was that they wanted me to serve as Chairman and that is something that is acceptable. There was no way that I would have known about the decision. Indeed, I would have shared the decision even if I was to know of it but I did not know it.

Q: The decision to split the chairman’s role, the non-executive chairman and Kris taking over as the co-chairman and executive position, give us a sense of how the responsibilities, the allocations will be split up and will Kamath be the sounding board, the philosopher and the guide?

Murthy: As we have already announced the role of the executive co-chairman is to strengthen, of course along with the CEO, customer, employee and investor connect. As Infosys is becoming a bigger and bigger company, this is an important function. At the same time, the role of the Chairman is board governance.

Of course when you have a person of the stature of KV, obviously, he will be an enthusiastic partner in discussion of issues that are paramount to Infosys. He is part of the team. We will move forward with work loss board governance and with enhanced customer, employee and investor connect.

You got it right! For the next few weeks, we are going to have a visual treat in the skies. Cause there is going a be an alignment of  Six Planets this Saturday which will continue to exist for next few weeks.

Seems Cool!

The Planets that come elliptical are  Mercury,Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune.

Out of the above said Planets, you can see Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter with your bare eye. However, you need to have a telescope or a binocular to see the Uranus and Neptune

This sky map of the six planets shows how they should appear at dawn to observers with clear weather and an unobstructed view.

Just walk out and have a view at skies. You can surely get a glimpse of  the Brightest Venus which is the most visible of the planets, and it can be your guide to spotting the others. About half way between Venus and the rising sun is Jupiter, the second brightest planet.

Mars will be a tiny speck just above Jupiter, and Mercury another tiny speck about half way between Jupiter and Venus. Uranus is slightly more than one binocular field above and to the right of Venus, and Neptune is much farther to the right, about 40 degrees away in Aquarius. The Moon will be just above Venus on Saturday morning, and just above Jupiter and Mars on Sunday morning.

An alert to all sky viewers, we have the moon moving rapidly from one morning to the next, it will only be part of the lineup for the next four mornings. So if you want to have Moon in the lineup , Dont miss the next four mornings.

As for the planets,  four naked-eye planets will be there for the next few weeks.

Dr. Conrad Murray, the man who is accused to be behind the dead of Pop Singer Michael Jackson, by providing him a high dose of propofol, has sought for a delay in trail.

Dr. Murray attorneys filed for a delay this Friday citing they need time to review new reports from prosecution witnesses and to cross verify it.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor scheduled a hearing on Monday to consider the request, which comes 10 days before the scheduled start of opening arguments on May 9.

Prosecutors said on Friday they wanted to call an additional medical expert at the trial to counter what are expected to be suggestions by Murray’s defense team that the “Thriller” singer swallowed propofol by himself.

Murray has admitted giving Jackson propofol as a sleep aid as he rehearsed for a comeback tour, but denies it was a fatal dose. The 50 year-old singer died at his rented Los Angeles home on June 25, 2009.

The Oakland Raiders have selected cornerback DeMarcus Van Dyke with the first of their two third-round picks in the NFL draft.

Van Dyke started just three games at Miami (Fla.) as a senior but blossomed at the NFL combine, where he ran a 4.25 40-yard dash. The 6-foot, 175-pounder played in 50 games and had three interceptions in four seasons with the Hurricanes.

The Raiders, who did not have a pick in the first round, traded their second-round pick in 2012 to New England in exchange for the 92nd and 125th overall picks this season.

Earlier, Oakland selected offensive lineman Stefen Wisniewski in the second round.

How to handle Unruly child?

Posted by Riz On April - 28 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Mischievous child, a  parenting problem which has touched all the parents in the world has indeed become more like a challenge each and every day.

Normally, parents are very forgiving in nature when they see their kids making a mess with neighbors or other kids. But what they fail to understand is , if they did not teach discipline to their kids, they might end stubborn as they grew up or even become a local gangster. Dont take things lightly when it comes to your kids.

We would like to concentrate on a child’s behavior at the age span between 6 to 8.

Where to start

Always remember, kids who are discipline at the age group of 5 are always discipline in nature as they grew up. So start the lesson of life by teaching discipline to them.

But How?

I will give you some instruction which i believe will help you a lot. If you have any other tip apart from the below mentioned kindly comment us so that we can add your tip with your name on it.

  • First of all, spend your time with kids. Speak to them, try to know them better.
  • Develop a daily rapport with your kid. This might help you to better understand your child’s thinking and feelings.
  • Punish your kid to an extend if they misbehave.
  • Dont be hard on your kids. This might motivate them to deliberately misbehave. Its like if you scold them ‘not to do a thing, they will do that’. So take  a calculative risk on your kid.
  • Finally, reward your child’s good behavior. This will really motivate them to behave. But the thing is they will expect rewards from you every-time they behave. Don’t disappoint them :)

Worse Heart Attack damage happens at dawn

Posted by Riz On April - 28 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

People who have a heart attack in the morning tend to fare worse than those who have one at other times of the day and night, experts have discovered.

Heart attacks occurring between 0600 and noon are more likely to create a larger area of damaged heart tissue.

The findings in Heart journal come from a study of over 800 patients in Spain.

Experts say the body’s natural sleep-awake cycle could explain the differences seen, but advise more research to confirm the findings.

To investigate, Dr Borja Ibanez and colleagues analysed data on 811 patients at their hospital who had suffered a type of heart attack known as an ST elevation myocardial infarction, which occurs when there is a prolonged period of blocked blood supply to the heart muscle.

The researchers split the patients into four groups based on what time segment of the 24-hour clock the heart attack occurred.

They found that one group in particular – the 0600 to midday or “morning” heart attack group – had the most severe heart attacks.

This morning group had much higher levels of an enzyme in their blood that is a marker of dying heart tissue than patients whose heart attack had occurred in the evening (between 6pm and midnight).

Judging by the blood enzyme levels, the researchers estimate that the area of the heart damaged in the morning group was, on average, a fifth larger in comparison.
