Hollywood producer Polly Platt, who was nominated for an Oscar for art direction, for Terms of Endearment, has died aged 72 in New York.

Platt, who was formerly married to film director Peter Bogdanovich, produced a string of successful movies including Broadcast News and War of the Roses.

Her daughter, Sashy Bogdanovich, said Platt died on Wednesday of a form of motor neurone disease.

Platt leaves two daughters and three grandsons.

Born in Illinois, she studied art at the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, before she began her career as a costume designer for the stage.

She worked with husband Bogdanovich, as a set designer, on films including The Last Picture Show, but they separated following his affair with the film’s star Cybill Shepherd.

After the divorced in 1971, however, they maintained a working relationship on hit films such as What’s Up Doc?, starring Barbra Streisand, and Paper Moon.

Platt was also known for her long professional association with Terms of Endearment director James L Brooks, and was executive vice-president of his production company, Gracie Films.

In the early 1980s she presented Brooks with a cartoon strip written by the then-unknown Matt Groening – who would later go on to create The Simpsons. Brooks went on to become a long-standing writer and developer on The Simpsons series.

Hakuna matata!  “Leave the Past Behind you”.  Is not the Slogan for Disney who is planning to release the Lion King movie in 3D this year.

Wow that sound amazing. The  most admired and loved king of the Jungle Simba is back to take his throne in the valleys of Pride Back  in cinemas near you.

I say, if Simba is returning back to theaters, then we should definitely put Hakuna Matata behind us.

Lion King, the tale of an young cub Simba who was tricked into believing by his uncle Scar that he  killed his father mufaza , who  runs away from his land to far away place and grows up with Timon and Pumbaa only to learn later about his responsibility in the circle of life. Who then  returns back to find the true murderer of his father  and take his rightful position.

Ah,the old memories of my young days is back.  I loved Lion King as a kid and still love it.

Lion king is one of those  animated movie that touches one’s heart emotionally.  The 2D  release of the movie in 1994,  grossed more than $783 million worldwide, becoming the most successful film released that year, and it is currently the 33rd highest-grossing feature film.

I reckon,  the 3D release will beat many more records than the 2D.

Al right, when is the Lion king 3D movie getting released?

Well, Lion King 3D is getting released on Sept. 16, 2011.

There are some things that a common man can never understand. Why would a country deep in debt would spend more time trying to get itself in even more debt ?

So, whats happening right now in US is that it hit the debt-ceiling of $14.294 trillion in May. That is the legal amount of money the government is allowed to borrow. Since our government seems to be only good at borrowing money, they seems to be without any work for the rest of the year. Now, they want to raise the limit. Nothing to worry, its been done 74 times before since 1962.

So, why do we have a debt-limit anyway ?

It was set with the good intentions of controlling the money being spent by the government but in reality this does not happen.

What does it mean to you and me if US Government keeps hitting debt-limit ?

Every time the US hits the debt-limit it could only mean the government is financially very poorly managed and ultimately like every desperate organization out there it only looks at lowering its expenses rather then increasing its revenue. Of course, they are also good at raising the taxes and flushing it down the toilet.

Lowering its expenses ?? Layoffs!! This is the only solution the big guys can come up with. Instead of optimizing the expenses they create for the government they can only think of Layoffs. Why should the give up their luxury for anyone’s live-hood ??

Looking at all this one thing is for certain all this is only going to affect the conman-man and not the elite. Since they seems to misuse their power very well. To them its just business as usual. Our jobs and life is just fun and games to them.

Trojan Asteroid : Trojan Asteroid, is a general name given to a Asteroid that circulates the Sun in the same Orbit as a Planet.

Such type of Asteroid were earlier detected only in  Mars, Jupiter and Neptune orbit. This discovery made the Scientist scratch their head because of their failure to learn such asteriod orbits.

As a result, they  increased their efforts to determine whether our Earth has one. In the end, they have found such Trojan Asteroid existence in our Planet’s orbit.

Whow! that sounds scary. Imagine an asteriod  circling the sun with the same orbit of Earth with some gravitational distance between them.

2010 TK7, as it is known, was found by Nasa’s Wise telescope. The discovery is reported in this week’s Nature journal. 2010 TK7 is probably not the rock of choice, simply because it travels too far above and below the plane of Earth’s orbit, which would require a lot of fuel to reach it.

Nonetheless, its detection means it is highly likely there are other, more suitable Trojans out there waiting to be found.

Wise, the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer launched in 2009, examined more than 500 Near-Earth Objects (NEOs), 123 of which were new to science.

The authors of the Nature paper sifted through data on these rocks, looking for the candidates that might be Trojans.

Follow-up work on the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope confirmed the status of 2010 TK7. It traces quite a complex path at its orbital point.

How far is the Trojan Asteroid from Earth?

Currently, it is about 80 million km from Earth, and should come no closer than about 25 million km.

The team says its orbit appears stable at least for the next 10,000 years.

The difficulty is the viewing geometry that puts any Trojan, from the perspective of an Earth-based telescope, in bright skies.

Elenin, the comet from the outer Oort cloud  is the latest in the long list for doomsday bringer after Planet X, Nibiru, Global Warming, Pole Shift, Alien Invasion, etc.

What is Elenin anyway!!!

Elenin is a comet like billion others from the Oort Cloud outside our beloved Solar System.  It was named after an Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin who discovered the  comet on December 10, 2010, remotely, using the International Scientific Optical Network’s robotic observatory near Mayhill, New Mexico, U.S.A.

The comet is believed to be moving with a rate of 85,000 km /hr and is projected to pass millions of miles away from our Earth to the Sun and then take a curve back to return back towards the Earth with the distance of  35 million kilometers [about 22 million miles] between Earth and itself to disappear into the deep space.

However, there have been a great deal of speculation among astronomers who are still finding it very hard to describe the exact size of the comet or its duration period.

The Astronomers, are highly confident that Elenin will not impact or damage or cause threat to Earth in any way.

What the Doomsday Knowers have to Say?

In my view, our Planet will be the only one where every fool try to act God.  One or the other comes out into the open with their own dates  and claim that they knew what will cause the doomsday.

When the God of Torah, Bible and Quran, repeatedly told his Prophets,  Only I knew the Hour and no man knew not. Yet, people try to play with God.

Extinction Level Event is the name given to Elenin by the cash making Doomsday knowers.

Isnt it calculative? They gave a false message stating Nibiru or Brown Dwarf or Planet x, whatever its name, is coming towards us to destroy Earth , terming it to be  bigger than Jupiter itself

When no such thing happened, they relate it to Elenin comet with an ideal excuse terming Elenin to be Nibiru.

I say, some law has to be formed to stopped such people.

The readers should note that, Elenin is a mere comet with millions of miles away from our Earth. It does not poke any risk to life on Earth.

What about Elenin tail?

Our Earth has passed through so many comets bigger and closer than Elenin with no effects or Armageddon event. The only effect the Elenin tail will give you is that  You will have a brilliant meteorite show in the sky

Yes, its official that U.S wasted $34 billion when it was struggling through recession, job loss and more. The United States has wasted some $34 billion on service contracts with the private sector in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to a study being finalized for Congress.

The findings by a bipartisan congressional commission were confirmed to Reuters by a person familiar with the draft of the study, which is due to be completed in coming weeks.

The analysis by the Commission on Wartime Contracting, details of which were first reported by the Wall Street Journal, offers the most complete look so far at the misuse of U.S. contracting funds in Afghanistan and Iraq, where more than $200 billion has been doled out in the contracts and grants over nearly a decade.

It also gives the most complete picture of the magnitude of the U.S. contracting workforce in the two countries.

The source, who declined to be named, said more than 200,000 contractors have been on the U.S. payroll at times in Iraq and Afghanistan — outstripping the number of U.S. troops currently on the ground in those countries.

The United States has fewer than 100,000 troops in Afghanistan and some 46,000 forces in Iraq.

The tally of private sector contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan can be surprisingly difficult to obtain since many U.S. contractors are outsourced to subcontractors who depend on temporary labor, the source said.

The report blames a lack of oversight by federal agencies for misuse of funds and warns of further waste when the programs are transferred to Iraqi or Afghan control as the United States withdraws its troops.

The U.S. military is on course to withdraw all of its troops from Iraq by the end of the year and started drawing down its force in Afghanistan this month.
