Blue Busters Steve Jobs imageIn the year 1984, Steve Jobs made a spoof of ‘Ghostbusters’ which was named as ‘Bluebusters’. In this spoof Steve Jobs will defeat the ‘Blue’ who might also be known as IBM.

This spoof was really intended to attack IBM.

Apple spoofed “Ghostbusters” in it’s parody music video “Bluebusters”, intended as an internal promotional “Hoo-Rah!” rallying cry in which Apple defeats the global domination aspirations of “Blue,” otherwise known as IBM.

As Paul McNamara of Network World points out, “It was clear that the metaphor of Apple as the liberator of the office worker wasn’t confined to the famous 1984 commercial.”

As prophetic as the theme of this video has turned out to be, we can’t help but smile a bit at a young Jobs decked out in a Macintosh-inspired Ghostbusters Uniform. He looks nothing like Bill Murray, but uncannily like Harold Ramis.

Whilst Samsung remains the boss in the mobile phone market, new research published this week shows the power Apple has over the tablet market.

The research revealed that Apple iPads send almost 95% of all traffic to websites originating from a tablet computer.

The iPad, launched in 2010, has rapidly gained popularity, with the market share controlled by Apple rising steadily as a result.

Chitikia Insights wanted to see just how powerful the iPad was however, so conducted research across their advertising network to determine the proportion of ad impressions generated by tablet type.

They found that the iPad was overwhelming victor, delivering 94.64% of all tablet based traffic.  As you can see below, the competition flounder in the wake of the iPad, with the next closest being the Samsung Galaxy with a paltry 1.22% of the traffic market.

Of course it is worth remembering that devices such as the Kindle and the Nook are primarily used as e-readers and so web traffic from them cannot be expected to be that high.  Nevertheless it remains an incredibly powerful position held by Apple in this rapidly growing sector.

Can any of the competition knock them off of their perch?  It remains hard to see how it can be achieved given Apple’s dominance yet with China growing in prosperity they represent a vast market for tablet computers.  Thus far the region has shown a liking for Android based machines, which represents a glimmer of hope for South Korean company Samsung.

Windows is More Secure Than Mac

While it was long believed and advertised that when you choose a Mac you can forget about your security being at risk. The founder of Kaspersky, one of the largest anti-virus firm has debunked this by proving Microsoft is more secure then Apple.

The founder and CEO of Kaspersky Labs spoke with Computer Business Review (CBR) about Apple’s slow progress in security at this week’s Infosecurity 2012 event in London.

“I think they are ten years behind Microsoft in terms of security,” Kaspersky told CBR. “For many years I’ve been saying that from a security point of view there is no big difference between Mac and Windows. It’s always been possible to develop Mac malware, but this one was a bit different. For example it was asking questions about being installed on the system and, using vulnerabilities, it was able to get to the user mode without any alarms.”

The malware about which Kaspersky speaks, the Flashback trojan, struck more than 600,000 Mac devices early this month and prompted Apple to release three separate Java updates to patch vulnerabilities in the software and prevent more security problems.

Unfortunately, Apple’s security updates may have come too little, too late. While just last week, Kaspersky Labs researchers had pegged the number of machines still plagued with the Flashback trojan at just 30,000, a recent report by Russian IT-security vendor Dr. Web shows the number of infected devices may be as high as 550,000, reports The Next Web. (Dr. Web researchers first discovered how widely the Flashback trojan had spread.)

While Apple has been slow to respond to new security concerns, CNET reports that Apple is making moves to boost the security on its devices. For example, XProtect, a built-in malware scanner, came with the last two major versions of Mac OS X. And security technology called Gatekeeper will be built into OS X Moutain Lion and will let the user to install only software designed by registered developers.

But with malware like the Flashback and Sabpab trojans still making their rounds, and wth recent studies showing just how vulnerable Apple devices are, Mac users might do well to heed Kaspersky’s words of warning. As he told CBR, more Macs (last quarter saw 4 million sold, a 7% increase from last year) will only mean more problems.

“Cyber criminals have now recognized that Mac is an interesting area,” Kaspersky said. “Now we have more, it’s not just Flashback or Flashfake. Welcome to Microsoft’s world, Mac. It’s full of malware.”

What do you think of what Kaspersky had to say? Do you agree or disagree? Let us know in the comments!

IPhone 4 explodes on Airplane

The worldwide phenomenon Apple’s Iphone 4 is on the news again but this time around its bad for Apple.  An Apple Iphone 4 exploded in an Airplane while the plane was on air in Australia.

According to a Regional Express statement, While on Australian flight Regional Express ZL319 Friday, a passenger’s iPhone 4 suddenly started “emitting a significant amount of dense smoke, accompanied by a red glow” .

The plane, which was flying from Lismore to Sydney, was in the midst of landing when the incident occured. “In accordance with company standard safety procedures, the flight attendant carried out recovery actions immediately, and the red glow was extinguished successfully,” according to Regional Express’ statement.

After landing, the iPhone was handed over to officials at the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.  There’s no official word yet on what caused the phone to combust.

Sound scary. Amid the flight scare, the passengers would have to undergo this stressful incident.

Sounds like Samsung has not taken into liking for Apple since Apple’s lawsuit on them to stop selling Samsung Galaxy tab in Germany.

Not even the death of Steve Jobs can stop Samsung to put a lawsuit against them.

As reported via BBC,

Samsung is seeking an injunction to get the new iPhone 4S banned from sale in France and Italy.

It claims that Apple has used 3G wireless technology, which Samsung invented, without paying for it.

A patent war between the companies has been rumbling on for months in courts around the world.

Apple has obtained temporary embargoes on its rivals’ products in Australia and Germany and is seeking similar rulings in several other countries.

In a statement, Samsung said: “Apple has continued to flagrantly violate our intellectual property rights and free ride on our technology, and we will steadfastly protect our intellectual property.”

Patent law blogger Florian Mueller warned that Samsung was putting the cart before the horse by seeking an injunction before negotiating terms.

“Imagine what would happen if every participant in a standard-setting process could later shut down entire telecommunications networks even if the alleged infringers are willing to pay a royalty to be determined, in the event of a commercial disagreement between the parties, by a court of law,” wrote Mr Mueller on his Foss Patents site.

Apple’s Steve Job dead at 56

Posted by Riz On October - 5 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Steve Jobs, the man behind Apple fairytale success has passed away this Wednesday. He was 56.

Steve Jobs, the Co-Founder and Former CEO of APPLE Inc. was fighting with pancreatic cancer for very long time.

Every month or so, a rumors comes out that he is dead. But, the dreadful thing has just happened. He died.

During his death, he was surrounded by his family who quoted to Xinhua,  “Steve died peacefully today surrounded by his family. We are grateful for the support and kindness of those who share our feelings for Steve. We know many of you will mourn with us, and we ask that you respect our privacy during our time of grief”.

Tributes are pouring out in millions from Apple’s fans and from his rivals who in their statement cannot believe the loss of his visionary.

Even President Obama felt the pain, Reuters reports American President Obama as saying, “The world has lost a visionary. And there may be no greater tribute to Steve’s success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented”.

Yes, indeed. The man who revolutionized the concept of  communication with all the exciting option and bringing everything together as ipad, iPhone,  was indeed a greater achievement for him.

If you ask me, i would say, Steve worked all his life to change the technological aspect the world was moving with and he succeeded.

Great Honor

“For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honor,” said Microsoft’s  Bill Gates, who once triumphed over Jobs but has seen his legendary status overtaken by the Apple (AAPL.O) co-founder in recent years.

Fans paid homage to Jobs outside Apple stores around the world, from Los Angeles to Sydney. Outside one store in New York City, mourners laid candles, bouquets of flowers, an apple and an iPod Touch in a makeshift memorial. In San Francisco, they held up black-and-white portraits of Jobs on their iPads

Steve Jobs was a man, who turned the bankrupt Apple to a success Billionaire company. From millions to billions probably trillions.

When i reported a news last february about Steve job having only 16 weeks to live, i never thought the news was true. Now, he is dead. :(

May his soul Rest In Peace
