Pak chief selector says decision to quit is final

Posted by Shane On February - 1 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Pakistan cricket chief selector Iqbal Qasim Monday refused to reconsider his decision to resign following the team’s poor showing on the current tour of Australia.

Ijaz Butt, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, said Monday that he has not accepted Qasim’s resignation and he will try to convince the former Test spinner to review his decision.

However, Qasim made it clear that he has resigned in a bid to accept responsibility for Pakistan’s disappointing performance in Australia. Qasim added his decision is final, adding that he will not take back his resignation.

‘After the clean sweep in the Test and one-day series, I don’t think it is my moral duty to remain the chief selector,’ said Qasim, who took over as Pakistan’s chief selector last July.

Qasim, who played in 50 Tests between 1976 and 1988 said that Pakistan’s losing streak has disappointed millions of cricket fans all over the country.

‘I am very disappointed, like millions of Pakistanis. As I am responsible for the selection of the team, I quit.’

‘The selection committee, which I headed, did its best to select the best possible teams, but they did not live up to the expectations of the fans who are badly hurt,’ he said.

Shiv Sena threat could not stop Hayden from IPL 3

Most of his compatriots have developed cold feet about playing in the Indian Premier League in the wake of Shiv Sena’s threat but retired opener Matthew Hayden said he is very much looking forward to be part of the third edition of the Twenty20 extravaganza. Hayden, who represents Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, said he never had problems in India and the country meant a lot for him and his family.

“I can say that I have been welcomed in all parts of India as a brother and friend of the country, which is a great privilege and I’m humble about it. Over a long period of time, I acknowledge, what India meant to me, individually and to my family as well. I’m looking forward with great confidence to playing in IPL,” the towering Australian said.

“In every tour, generally what happens that it is in player’s discretion to decide whether he wants to play or pull out because of personal reasons or other reasons. Obviously the matter now rests in the players’ hands,” Hayden said.

He conceded the players and the Australian Cricketers’ Association were concerned but felt the Aussies would be part of the tournament if the franchisees keep them updated about the security issue.

Australian players’ IPL participation became uncertain after Shiv Sena said they would not allow any Aussie cricketer to play here unless the attack on the Indians did not stop Down Under.

Interest rate Back to form in Australia!!!

Posted by Shane On October - 5 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

42-19733755The  temporary burial of Interest rate in the world  has again CAME  back to life. Is it  ridiculous, well Australian Government has come out and declared that  the  interest rate will be  increased to  3.25%  from  3%.

Australia who avoided   the Recession last year was  a lone nation to survive from the wrath of  Economy downfall when the entire  world was crying with  financial loss.

The central bank  of Australia is the first  to come out and announce the increase in  interest  since  the beginning of  2008.  Adding  if  all goes  well, then the interest  rate will be back to the normal one   5%.

Now, this is   the toughest thing to cope  up seeing there is no  jobs at all.

Australian-sign-camels-wombats-kangaroosThe Australian government have proposed a budget of $16m to stop the growing mess of camel in their continent.

The plan proposed by the government is to kill the camel either from Helicopter or through foot using guns. Now this is not at all welcomed by the Animal Welfare Community who are in War path with the government.

What Camel got to do with Australia eh. Well, Australia in their mid 90’s imported Camels in order to make the desert travelling easy in their continent.

The camel though have grown excess in population and are about 1 million now. That is, for every 20 Australians there is atleast 1 camel. If the situation continues the population of camel will double in the current years leaving the government in very serious situation.

Considering every thing in hold, the Australian government finally decided to cull some camels. But this is not welcomed by Animal Welfare Community.

Instead, the community have proposed an alternate plan stating, “Instead of killing the camel, birth control pills or making the camel infertile options should be considered”.

There is no word yet from the Australian government on this issue.

Ricky pontingRicky Pointing loses temper  for getting out!!!  Hard to believe? Or Is it a common act when a cricketer got himself out in a crucial match.

I think its just a common act done by Ricky pointing who failed to win the third test of the ongoing ashes tournament therby ending the  third test match in a draw.

Now, comon skipper you couldnt possibly fight with Nature. Every cricket fan are aware of the fact about the rain which almost took 2 days of the play.

A UK’s Newspaper reports that, after being out by Graeme Swann’s ball , Ricky Pointing smashed the door in dressing room out of rage and anger. The ball bowled by Graeme Swann is now among the strongest contender for the Ball of the century award.

Host club Warwickshire made light of incident and its cricket operations manager Keith Cook said, “We have to make all sorts of running repairs all over the ground.

“I’ve not had any complaints, but if a batsman has lost his temper when he’s out it wouldn’t be the first time,” he added. Australia is 0-1 down in the five-match series after losing the second Test at Lord’s.

New Zealand Moving towards Australia

Scientist say South Island is moving towards Australia

New Zealand , a place known for beautiful tourist spot has been hit by a massive earthquake of range 7.8 Magnitude. The luck factor here is , no heavy damages for life and property were reported.

New Zealand is known to have  sparse population when compared to other country in the world. This might have helped them survive the disaster of loss to life and property.

Apart from this, Scientist have discovered a shocking proof that the recent earthquake has tilted New Zealand and its now pushed closer to Australia.

This sounds miracle, isnt it? In order for a continent or island to move  its direction it will take  thousands of years and its not a sudden Process. But thanks to this earthquake, the south New Zealand has been titled towards.

The Few Seconds massive earthquake has done the trick to move a country that would have certainly have taken centuries.

The Earthquake centered in the ocean near Resolution Island in the country’s Fiordland region, twisted South Island out of shape and moved its southern tip 12 inches (30 centimeters) closer to Australia, seismologist Ken Gledhill said.

Gledhill, director of government-owned GNS Science’s “GeoNet” national earthquake monitoring project, said the island’s geographic shift showed the immensity of the forces involved.

“Basically, it’s taken us closer to Australia,” he told National Radio. “The country is deforming all the time because of being on the plate boundary, but this has done it in a few seconds, rather than waiting hundreds of years.”

Now whether the movement of the  country will damage the environment of the nation is still in question and is cannot be predicted.

An overexcited Australian pilot crashes his Helicopter after seeing a crocodile. The pilot along with his friend was on the air passing through the forest in the northern city of Darwin,Australia. The pilot spotted a crocodile and turned the copter to have a closer look on the crocodile.

The helicopter crashed and the next thing the pilot recalls was lying in the mud.  “The pilot said after starting the turn the next thing he remembered was being upside down in the mud,” the statement said.

Seeing his friend passenger injured and fearing that he might be in Hypothermia, the pilot rescued him from the crocodile and buried him in Sand leaving his head alone to breathe.

What is Hypothermia?

According to wikipedia, Hypothermia (from Greek ὑποθερμία) is a condition in which an organism’s temperature drops below that required for normal Metabolism and bodily functions.

Immediately after buring his friend, the pilot raised the alarm for Help. When the Medical officials arrived to the spot, they first thought that the man is dead. After seeing the head movement of the victim did the doctors recognised that he was alive.

Air ambulance operator Careflight said in a statement that the pilot had been flying along the Dundee Beach, 60km (37 miles) from Darwin, when he tried to turn to look at a crocodile. Ian Badham, director of Careflight, said the case was “bizarre”

“It turned out that the pilot had realized it might take rescue services until daylight to actually get there.”

Mr Badham said the passenger was being treated in hospital for head, chest and arm injuries.
