The discovery of Secret Chambers leading from Large Kings and Queens, and the secret markings in the walls of the pyramids that was left undiscovered for over 4500 years  has ignited the Archeologist and general viewers in high excitement.

Pyramids of Giza  in Egypt is often known as the place of wonder or secrets. No matter how far the archeologist penetrate into it, the pyramids still hold many secrets for them.

The latest discovery just proves that. Although the Archeologist has earlier penetrated into the pyramids, they were unable to distinguish the writings in the wall  because of  not-so-fit technology.

But now thanks to a  small robotic camera named as Djedi , the markings of the wall was discovered. The markings sure look different and exciting as per reports.

Its not that, we humans never penetrated into the Pyramids or lacked the skills. We sure penetrated, but this time we had a deep look into the walls because of the advanced Micro Chip Camera that Djedi carried that enabled it to move side to side instead of  focusing straight.

CNN reports  Peter Der Manuelian, Philip J. King Professor of Egyptology at Harvard University as saying, similar lines have been found elsewhere in Giza. “Sometimes they identify the work gang (who built the room), sometimes they give a date and sometimes they give guidelines to mark cuttings or directional symbols about the beginning or end of a block,” he said.

“The big question is the purpose of these tunnels,” he added. “There are architectural explanations, symbolic explanations, religious explanations — even ones relating to the alignment of the stars — but the final word on them is yet to be written. The challenge is that no human can fit inside these channels so the only way to do this exploration is with robots.”

17 Pyramids discovered under sand

In addition to the Secret wall painting, U.S. archaeologists have used Satellite imaging to discover 17 pyramids buried beneath silt and sand in Egypt.

The research, supported by a BBC documentary unit, also revealed more than 1,000 tombs and 3,000 other buildings dating to the time of the Pharaohs.

At least 10 dead in Raleigh N.C. storms

Severe wind storms killed at least 10 people in North Carolina and three in Virginia Saturday, upping the two-day U.S. storm death toll to 30, officials said.

The National Weather Service said tornadoes were sighted in 19 North Carolina counties and it had received unconfirmed reports of at least 10 deaths in all, The Charlotte (N.C.) Observer reported.

“More than likely we had eight tornadoes in North Carolina,” Gail Hartsfield, an NWS meteorologist in Raleigh, said.

In Virginia, Mathews County Sheriff Steve Gentry said a tornado churned on the ground for 7 1/2 miles near Coke, leaving three people dead and more than 60 injured, the Newport News, Va., Daily Press reported.

The North Carolina and Virginia storm deaths came on the heels of 17 deaths in Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Mississippi, CNN reported.

The Observer and the Bladen Journal in North Carolina said the deaths included three people in a mobile home park in northeast Raleigh, three deaths in Bladen County, one in Sanford and another in Cumberland County.

“We got down in the bathroom, and we knelt down on the floor, and I was hollering and hollering,” said storm survivor Brenda McClamroch, who lives in southwest Wake, N.C., with her husband Tenny. “It all happened in a split-second, and it was awful.”

Investors growing worries on Google Stock

Google’s stock is exactly where it was in September 2007, and it has fallen 9% since Eric Schmidt announced in January that he’d be stepping down as CEO.

The problem, investors say, is that for every reason to believe in Google (GOOG, Fortune 500), there seems to be a counterbalancing reason for concern.

The company is growing rapidly, but antitrust battles are a threat to growth. Hiring increases could help create the next billion-dollar business, but the weight on margins scares some investors. New management should make the company more efficient, but near-term profits could suffer. And well-received product enhancements aren’t enough to reduce some investors’ worries about Facebook’s threat to Google’s business.

“There are many moving parts at Google that make it hard to assess [growth] on the revenue line, associated risk and competitive dynamics across its many markets,” said Joel Achramowicz, analyst at Blaylock Robert Van. “These uncertainties are causing the market to remain circumspect with regard to the name ‘Google.’”

U.S. investigators have impounded an Air France A380 which collided with a smaller jet at New York’s John F. Kennedy airport on Monday but the airline says transatlantic A380 flights will be unaffected.

The Airbus superjumbo, the world’s largest jetliner with a wingspan of almost 80 meters (yards), hit the tail section of a Bombardier CRJ regional jet which spun in a quarter turn on the taxiway, according to amateur video.

A CNN correspondent on the Air France flight to Paris reported that he felt a “slight rumble akin to hitting a patch of rough pavement” as the plane with over 500 people on board was moving on the ground at about 815pm (0015 GMT Tuesday).

The correspondent said about a foot of the Air France superjumbo’s left wing appeared to be damaged.

Air France confirmed the incident and said both aircraft had been “immobilised” pending an investigation. A spokeswoman declined to estimate the time and cost of repairs to the wing.

Air France, which flies five times a day to New York including one flight using the Airbus double-decker, will operate its daily A380 flight on Tuesday as normal, she said.

“Air France confirms an A380 operating flight 007 on April 11 between JFK and Paris-Charles de Gaulle, with 495 passengers and 25 crew on board, struck with its left wing the tail of a Comair CRJ-700 which was parking at JFK,” the spokeswoman said.

“This collision caused only material damage. The two aircraft have been immobilised and the passengers were given accommodation or placed on (other) flights,” she added.

Anderson Cooper Attacked in Egypt

Posted by Tommy On February - 3 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

CNN reporter and anchor Anderson Cooper was attacked by the anti-government protesters in Cairo, Egypt. This seems to the first incident of a foreigner being attacked in Egypt’s anti-government protests.

Cooper and his team were walking in Tahrir square through a large crowd of Mubarak supporters when the scene turned ugly. The crowd had let him walk for several minutes into the square when one man leaped out of the crowd, screaming, and attempted to grab the camera.

When he then began to attack Cooper’s crew, people in the crowd began to join in, at which point the team decided to leave the square.

They began walking away from the group who had begun the assault on them, but as they walked out of the square, various other groups rushed towards them, shouting, punching, and kicking the crew.

Cooper can be heard in video saying “I’ve been hit now, like, ten times,” and “the Egyptian soldiers are doing nothing.”

In the video, crowds can be seen running towards Cooper’s team several times as they attempted to exit the square. When the team began to run, they were instructed by a few friendly Egyptians to walk, or else it would be interpreted as encouragement to the violent crowd.

Once they had escaped to safety, Cooper reported that aside from kicking and punching the crew, the crowd had thrown bottles, bloodied the camera operator’s eye, and tried to rip a female crew member’s clothes off.

Now it seems apparent that the the target was indeed the journalists.

According to MSNBC’s Richard Engle and Al Jezeera, other journalists were attacked similarly during the day.

Since then, Tahrir Square has become the site of bloody clashes, largely instigated by pro-Mubarak protesters, some of them police in disguise.

Reports of heavy machine gun fire and tanks laying down smoke screens turned downtown Cairo into a war zone. Reuters reports four dead and more than 1,500 wounded as the violence continues.

The US State Department has advised American citizens to “report to airport immediately,” saying “Further delay is not advisable.”

No word on whether Cooper and his team will heed their advice.

Obama Kill Switch

Let's Kill Internet, not the change America wanted to see.

Let's Kill Internet, not the change America wanted to see.

We are sure many of you are aware of the unrest in Egypt. You must also be aware that internet access is restricted countrywide by the government. Well, US might get its own switch to shutdown internet.

As of today, according to Computerworld, “Egypt is now off the grid.”  They write, “Four days after the Egyptian government ordered Internet service providers to disconnect from the Internet, the country’s last working Internet company has abruptly vanished from cyberspace.”

This is idea for the ‘Obama Kill Switch’, its a piece of legislation drafted by Senators Joe Lieberman and Susan Collins, that would offer President Obama a “kill switch,” effectively allowing him to shut down the Internet during a national emergency.

This move by the Obama Administration seems to mimic Chinese internet laws.

“Right now China, the government, can disconnect parts of its Internet in case of war and we need to have that here too,” Lieberman told CNN’s Candy Crowley last year.

Brandon Milhorn, counsel for the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, says, ”We’re not trying to mandate any requirements for the entire Internet, the entire Internet backbone… (just the) crucial components that form our nation’s critical infrastructure.”

What do you guys think of the new ‘Obama Kill Switch’ ? Another attempt by the government to show that they are in power and not the people ? Ironically, its the complete opposite of what democracy means. A word so overused and boasted by America.

Keith Olbermann leaves MSNBC

Keith Olbermann leaves MSNBC

Keith Olbermann, one of the most popular faces in News and sports Keith Olbermann has left MSNBC. They have been 8 years together but now they are parting ways.

A statement from NBC Universal revealed the move late Friday.

“MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract,” it read. “The last broadcast of ‘Countdown with Keith Olbermann’ will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC’s success and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Olbermann announced his departure on his Friday night show.

In the mundane world of television goodbyes, reality is laughably uncooperative,” Olbermann said before launching into a story about his exit from ESPN 13 years ago.

As God as my witness, in the commercial break just before the emotional moment, the producer got into my earpiece and he said, ‘um, can you cut it down to 15 seconds so we get in this tennis result from Stuttgart,‘” he said, half-smiling, pausing for composure.

So I’m grateful I have a little more time to sign off here. Regardless, this is the last edition of Countdown.”

Olbermann thanked his crew and co-workers, with special praise for the man he called “my greatest protector and most indefatigable cheerleader,” Tim Russert, the host of NBC’s “Meet the Press” who died in 2008.

According to New York Times, Keith Olbermann has at-least 2-years left in the 4-year contract worth 30 million dollars.

CNN was reporting that the reason for Keith Olbermann’s exit was due to the fallout of the purchase of Comcast of NBC and the exit of company head Jeff Zucker.
