Football Cup 2010

Football Cup 2010 in 3D

To all those crazy football fans, this year is going to be special for you! Yep, that’s right you’re gonna experience football like never before. Also its gonna be football everywhere so that you don’t miss any of it. This year Worldcup football is going to be streamed live on your mobile phones also its going to be broadcast  in 3D. Woo, this is going to be so MUCH FUN!!

From watching live matches on your phone or computer, to seeing the action explode around you in ultra-real 3D or in free outdoor stadium events, the first World Cup to be held on the African continent is set to create new standards in availability.

Though rugby union was the first to experience 3D exposure, the World Cup will see the technology reach a much wider population of sport fans.

Soccer’s world governing body FIFA has announced that 25 matches will be broadcast in 3D, with seven cameras at each of five grounds in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. The 2D broadcasts will require 32 cameras at each stadium.

FIFA expects the total audience for the tournament to exceed the 26.89 billion who saw Germany 2006, but only a fraction of that will be watching on 3D according to its director of TV, Niclas Ericson.

“We hope it will be at least a few hundred thousand per match,” he told reporters at FIFA’s 3D launch in April.

U.S. network ESPN is one of three broadcasters to have so far signed up to show live 3D matches, along with Prisa’s Sogecable in Spain and Korea’s SBS, though FIFA expects more to join them.

For those territories without 3D-capable broadcasters, eight matches will be available in digital cinemas and selected venues around the world.

Aruna Media, based in Switzerland as is FIFA, has exclusive non-television 3D rights and plans to broadcast live matches at cinemas and other venues in some 26 countries.

Mobile matches

In the United States, ESPN is going big on the World Cup and will have 56 of the 64 matches live on ESPN Mobile TV and VCAST Mobile TV.

Just can’t wait! hope they don’t have Technical Difficulties.

Richard Seymour

Looks like its official now that the Patriots have traded Richard Seymour to Raiders. Well, atleast they have been confirmed by Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe and Adam Schefter of  ESPN have tweeted about it in Twitter.com.

Later The Patriots themselves have confirmed the news again via Twitter. Looks like Twitter is becoming the official platform to pass the news to the masses.

Richard Seymour was drafted by the Patriots in the first round (sixth overall) in the 2001 NFL Draft out of Georgia and has been a part of three Super Bowl Teams. He was named to the Pro Bowl five times in his career (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006).

In 101 career games with the Pats, Seymour had 357 tackles, 39 sacks and two interceptions.

ESPN  has finally made its stand by taking over the rights to show 46 games of the next season English Premier League.  This will be the first time for ESPN to broadcast live premier league football in UK.  ESPN took over from Setanta  which was unable to pay the bill for the rights.

This gives ESPN an opportunity to telecast the game shows. It has now won the 23 games per season which was due to show from 2010-2013 by Setanta. The two Packages namely Saturday teatimes and Monday evenings will be eventually sold to customers through Sky.

The amount for rights purchase by ESPN is still unclear. Meanwhile, the Scottish Premier League (SPL) has taken back its UK rights for 2009/10 “and beyond” from Setanta after the Irish broadcaster missed a £3m payment. The SPL said it was now “actively engaging in the process of selling our domestic broadcasting rights”.English premire league

ESPN said in a statement it had “reached an agreement for its coverage to be retailed by Sky to residential and commercial customers”, who will pay extra to view the games. It also has plans of making the medium of league available with other platforms and the talks with Virgin Media confirmed it.

“This move demonstrates our commitment to British sports fans and our ongoing commitment to delivering football to fans around the world across a variety of media,” said Russell Wolff, managing director of ESPN International.

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said that ESPN had a “formidable worldwide reputation and experience in sports”.

I am sure we will enjoy a long and fruitful relationship with them,” he added
