Facebook Like button turns one year old

Posted by Shane On April - 22 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

On April 21, Facebook celebrated the “Like” button’s first birthday.

Just one year ago, CEO Mark Zuckerberg took the stage at the F8 developers conference to announce the advent of the “Like,” along with a host of other Facebook expansions. And today we find the Like button almost in every websites. Cool!

What is a Facebook Like Button?

This may sound silly, but if your a newbie to internet. Facebook Like Button is a feature that will help you to express your interest about a website or its contents, in your facebook account.

Lets say,  a user visits any website, for instance Thfire.com, and if the users likes the website or its contents, the user goes on to click the Like button.

The clicking of Like button will lead the user to his/her facebook account and he/she can share the preferred stories to their friends using the Like button.  By this way, the social connection with the friends is maintained. Thats why we call Facebook as the giant in Social Networking sites.

As per Mashable, “50,000 websites installed the Like button in its first week, and that number rose to 100,000 in less than a month.”

According to Facebook, 10,000 new websites are adding this social tool every day.

Despite users’ requests for an accompanying “Dislike” option, Facebook has not announced plans to modify the “Like” button.

Will Muschamp to head choach Florida

After waiting too long for coaching Texas, Will Muschamp has decided to turn the wheels and jump to Florida.

ESPN.com’s Chris Low is reporting that the Florida Gators have hired Will Muschamp to succeed Urban Meyer:

Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp has accepted an offer to be the head coach at Florida, sources told ESPN.com’s Mark Schlabach.

Muschamp, who just finished his third season at Texas, where he was the head-coach-in-waiting to succeed Mack Brown, replaces Urban Meyer at Florida.

The sources said Muschamp was the only person Florida interviewed.

If this is true, I say fantastic. Don’t get me wrong: I have no doubt that Muschamp is a great coach and that he has the potential to lead Florida to plenty of success. If he didn’t have the look of a potential head coach at a powerhouse program, Texas never would have agreed to make him the head-coach-in-waiting, and his experience in that capacity means that he’s been groomed for the role by coaching great Mack Brown.

However, Muschamp has no head coaching experience. Given the choice between Muschamp and Dan Mullen, Bobby Petrino, or Bob Stoops, who would you pick? I’d pick Muschamp over anyone who has proven that he can succeed as a head coach, and frankly I’m surprised that a program like Florida–perhaps the nation’s premier program–couldn’t bag more of a sure-fire coach

Another shocker. Germany defeated Argentina 4-0.

The match started with Germany scoring a thriller goal on the third minute of the match.  Half time was called with the score on board Germany 1-0 against Argentina.

On the 68th minute of the match, Germany scored another goal making their lead to 2-0. With Argentina having no answers for Germany attack, the boys of Germany standardized their lead with  2 more goals on 74th and 89th minute of the match.

Boys who scored for  Germany are  Klose(2), Muller and Friedrich.

from Argentina side there were no goal. Captain Massi had no answers this time around. His brilliance was spoken throughout the world but he failed to get his team to semi finals.

We could call this story as History repeats itself. Do remember, Germany was the same team that stopped Argentina in the quarter finals of the 2006 world cup.

Again they stopped the favourite Argentina this time around. Cheez, i felt bad to see the match. I totally Congratulate the brilliance of Germany, but i  had  my pick on Argentina. Felt disappointed to see them lose.

Diego Maradona dreams comes to an end :(

Heat is on the Australians after their poor show  in the finals of world t20 despite being rated the favorites for the cup.

As always, Australia’s  lost to England has brought such a backlash towards Skipper  Michael Clarke fearing the fact that  they may also  lose  Ashes which starts this December.

Australia’s playing legend Ricky Pointing has come forward for the defence of his team mate Michael Clarke praising him for the type of character he has shown in the field.

Pointing lauds Clarke for his commitment and fight back his team showed in the World Cup. He further stressed that  Australian team is ready for the Ashes Challenge quoting  “We Want to play test against India to prepare for the Ashes. India is the top ranked test team  and have proved to be tough challenge, he added.”

Australia is on a tour schedule to India starting this October and have accepted the offer of playing more test in India then the one-day matches.
