Lasith Malinga Quits Test Cricket

Posted by Shane On April - 22 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Sri Lankan Fast Bowler Lasith Malinga has announced his retirement from Test Cricket.

Malinga, who is well known for his unique slinging round-arm action announced his retirement on Friday in order to prolong his limited overs career.

In a statement Malinga said he had sustained a chronic knee injury in Australia in February, 2008, which prevented him from playing one-day cricket for 16 months.

“The injury was a career-threatening injury and my orthopaedic surgeon was of the opinion that given his experience with other professional athletes in Australia I was very fortunate to play again,” he said.

“I have since been advised by the national team physiotherapist and my orthopaedic consultant that my condition will deteriorate when fielding or bowling for prolonged periods.

“I did try to return to test cricket after a three-year absence last year following requests from the team management and the selectors, but it left me unfit and nursing severe knee pain for two months.”

Malinga said he had realised that the heavy workload of test cricket could lead to permanent injury and his decision to retire would help him achieve his goal of representing Sri Lanka in next year’s Twenty20 World Cup and the 2015 50 overs World Cup.

Why did Edge quit WWE?

Posted by Shane On April - 16 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

WWE’s Iconic wrestler Edge retires from Wrestling.

As i predicted before Wrestlemania 27, Edge announced his retirement on Monday night Raw aired on April 11.

Edge who is known as the Rated R superstar, joined WWE in 1997 where he accomplished many titles defeating the then greats to become WWE champion. His latest title was in Wrestlemania 27 where he successfully defended his title against Alberto Del Rio.

Why did Edge retire from WWE?

Let us look deep into the fact  on why did he retire.

According to WWE.com, Copeland (Edge)  has been suffering from Neuropraxia, a spinal condition which caused numbness and trembling in the arms. He suffered a neck injury and underwent spinal surgery in 2003.

The website also states: “Medical professionals cannot clear Edge to compete ever again in WWE, since doing so could result in paralysis or even death.”

The revelation caught most fans and wrestling insiders completely unawared and is thought to be legitimate and not part of a storyline.

WWE advertised Edge making a big announcement several times during Raw, even hinting at the fact it might be to announce retirement.

In an odd insight into how wrestling psyches worked, most assumed this would be a swerve. Sadly, it was not the case.

On Raw, Copeland addressed the live crowd, coming close to tears as they chanted “Thank you Edge”. The cameras then caught up with him backstage as his colleagues broke kayfabe to form a guard on honour for him.

Well, another Legend has retired. Its sad for WWE who has already lost so many fans thanks to the retirement of Shawn Michaels.

World Cup 2011 has been conquered by India in their home soil after defeating Sri Lanka. India becomes the first team in history to win a world cup in home town.

After their win, each and every player in the team said just one clause “We did it for Sachin”.

Such were their respect towards the man who has been carrying the nation’s burden for 21 years. These were the exact words from Virat Kohli and Harbhajan singh who were both crying emotionally after winning the world cup. Both the players while speaking with the commentators said ” This were the moment for which we have been living for”.

When questioned about Sachin’s dream coming true, Harbhajan and Virat Kohli said ” We did it for Sachin”.

“He has been carrying around the team and nations burden on his shoulders for 21 years, now its time that we do it for him”.

Sachin Tendulkar, who was crying all  the time, said ” This is the proudest moment of his life”. Further adding, “Its never too late for winning a world cup.”

A Legends dream has been finally full filled. We, at Thfire, wishes team India for their brilliant display of sportsmanship in the tournament and for winning the world cup.

Triple H Vs The Undertaker this Wrestlemania 27?

Posted by Shane On February - 22 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Are we seeing a feud building up between the game “Triple H” and  the deadman “The Undertaker” ? Yes we are!

What Triple H vs Undertaker facing each other? Are you joking?

Lol, let me tell you what happened this monday night raw aired on Feb 21,2011.

The Iconic Undertaker returned back to raw but before we see Undertaker completely getting settled in the ring, Bang! came a sound ” Its time to play the Game” followed by the dazzling entrance from Triple H.

Both   superstars stare each other and performed their own gestures. Undertaker making the throat gesture, in return Triple H giving  him the DX chop. Cool!

Lets come back to reality, its Wrestlemania around the corner and we were missing both Icons Undertaker and Triple H.

What benefit will it give Wrestlemania 27 without the presence of these stars, who have been known for Wrestlemania heroics!

As fans prayed to see these stars, they both returned which means both need a opposition to face this Wrestlemania 27.

Why not they face each other? After all it will be a perfect feud, Triple H wanting to take revenge on Undertaker for retiring his long time friend Shawn Michael’s. It makes sense.

I must admit a key factor is  troubling me. Undertaker is remained unbeaten in Wrestlemania history with 18-0. After nearly a year, Triple H has returned. If the script writers want Undertaker  to remain unbeaten then definitely Hunter has  to lose. This will make me sad.

If they want to show Hunter in the spot light then surely Undertaker’s unbeaten streak has to be broken 18-1.

Whow, this is really going a deep conversation. In the end, i just hope both the superstars not retire. I think, Its not just me thinking Undertaker retirement is around the corner. Dont you think the same???

The official WWE website reports that, Chris Jericho’s new book Undisputed will go on sale in stores worldwide this Wednesday,  Feb. 16.

The book has already taken the honor of being No. 1 selling sports-entertainment book on Amazon.com.

It’s a hilarious and heart-wrenching tale of Chris’ time both in the WWE and with his band Fozzy and has been called “the best sports entertainment biography of all-time!”

Its really fasinating to know Chris Jericho story. He left WWE , some say he has taken a break, whatever it is, he left WWE at the earlier days of 2010. And have not returned to WWE since then.

However, he has not termed retirement. We can expect to see him back in the rings of WWE

Nathan Bracken Quits Cricket

Posted by Shane On January - 29 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Australian pacer Nathan Bracken quits International Cricket. He announced his retirement at Sydney this Saturday.

Bracken who is aged 33, was known for his consistency in knocking out the opponents wickets. His reason to retire all of a sudden shocks the cricketing world, but Bracken  cited knee injuries for his decision to call it a quit.

Bracken said he had investigated ways to continue playing, but received medical advice that he should retire.

“I really have enjoyed my cricket both internationally and domestically, but unfortunately knee injuries have taken their toll,” Bracken said.

“I have had a strong rehabilitation from my last operation and have also looked at altering my bowling action to reduce any further damage in my knee and which would have enabled me to continue playing, but it hasn’t responded.

“My doctor has advised that I may require further surgery to stabilise my knee and to enable me to have good use of the knee in the future, but to continue playing first-class cricket is now not an option that I have.”

Thank you Nathan Bracken for all the good cricketing moments. We hope you come back soon with a different cricketing role.
