Fifty Shades of Grey is on the way to materialize into a damn good movie! It has got itself a screenwriter, Kelly Marcel!
Universal Pictures and Focus Features announced on Monday that Kelly Marcel will pen the screenplay for the film adaptation of E L James’ massively popular “mommy porn” book.
Marcel’s work includes the upcoming Saving Mr. Banks, a movie about Walt Disney’s 20-year pursuit of the film rights to “Mary Poppins.”
She is also the co-creator and executive producer of FOX’s “Terra Nova.”
As Gossip Cop previously reported, The Social Network’s Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti have already signed on to produce the movie.
De Luca said in a statement, “Kelly’s work demonstrates her flawless structural technique and passionate commitment to emotion, humor and depth of character which is particularly visible in the celebrated screenplay for the upcoming Saving Mr. Banks.”
And Brunetti added, “We were all taken with the depth and passion of Kelly’s engagement with the characters and world E L James has created and we knew she was the right person to augment our Fifty Shades family.”
