After rumors began circulating last week, Katie Couric was named the new global anchor for Yahoo on Monday (November 25).
The news anchor and talk show host will lead a team of correspondents and begin work on the site early next year, and is expected to keep her daytime talk show.
Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer said in a statement, “I’ve always respected Katie for her thoughtful, charismatic approach to journalism. Katie is dynamic, savvy and has a way of connecting with viewers that I really admire.”
There has been no word as to what Ms.Couric’s other duties at the site may be, though it has been rumored that she will also host an interview show.
