What to Wear to a Job Interview?

When they say your first impression really does create an impact, they are not making things up. It is believe that person who is serious about his job and other priorities of life, will make sure his personality reflects the same. And thus will choose an attire that speaks the same.

What if the company I am going for is cool and all? Do I still need to be smart in my pants and the likes?

You may be going to get interviewed by a firm that is pretty cool and has portrayed its image on the same lines. Its great that they do believe in comforts of an individual, but you aren’t still a part of it. Dressing up for an interview still holds true and suggests you be prim and proper.

Its time to suit up boys. Thats the best you can do if you really want to make an impression. A sharp suit, a bright tie and nicely polished shoes are enough to tell you’re here to grab the opportunity in all seriousness. Follow some of the points written below to match up your color scheme and accessories:

  • Colors to choose for your suit

Navy blues and blacks work brilliantly when combines with a sharp white shirt. A contrasting bright colored tie accentuates the positivity in your personality. Carry a handkerchief that is not of a stark different color from what you’re wearing as a whole.

  • Shoes and accessories

Going in for subtle shoes works fine. Suede and leather are mostly considered as formals. Blacks and browns match up with every color combination. Clean and proper is of pivotal importance. Briefcase adds a dash of maturity to the look.

Dressing up for a formal interview for Women

Women have a larger variety to chose from when it comes to formal dressing. If you’re slim and slender, long professional dresses look extremely elegant. But since we are talking about dresses, short, much above the knee length put across a not so great impression. Keep them subtle and in professional colors. Grey, black, white, purple and maroon look extremely classy. Women with a heavier built can look into suits and shirt and pant combinations as well. The footwear needs to be comfortable to give you a sense of confidence while you walk up to your employers. If you choose to wear very long heels. you might get scared of tripping. While plain flat sandals could make you look too short. Comfort is the key here.

Things to Remember

  1. Keep your clothes ironed and ready a night before the interview is scheduled.

  2. Make sure they aren’t extremely bright in color; not something that hurts the eye.

  3. Keep it professional and elegant.

  4. Do not over match and over do.

  5. Do not over accessorize for the sake of filling up your presentation and personality.
