Peeing in Swimming Pool can get you in trouble

Thats right, you are next to 99 percent guaranteed for a waste-less and pure swimming pool water thanks to the group of Texas based researchers who have successfully created a device that would help identify human waste in liquids provided the Swimming Pool owners adapt the technique.

How it really works?

The device to be precise, would glow when it detects traces of human waste in water. The container from the device adds zinc ions to water that glow if urine or faeces is present.

When zinc ions come in touch with urobilin molecules – a byproduct released in the urine and faeces of many mammals – it forms a phosphorescent compound which glows green under an ultraviolet light.

“The technology provides actual concentration levels of the contaminant and it does so almost instantly,” its developer Vladislav Yakovlev was quoted as saying in media reports.

Using the technology, Yakovlev and his team have detected the presence of urobilin down to a nanomole per litre.

I hope, good old days are over for the offenders who contaminate the pool but i really doubt if people are going to stop peeing on swimming pool.
