In a movie style rescue a Massachusetts dad went all the way and smashed the window of a day care center to fetch his 3-year-old daughter, who surprisingly has been locked inside after everyone left for the day.

Keith Paquette says when he arrived at Westport Country Day School just after 5 p.m. Monday to pick up daughter Samantha Jo, the building was locked and no one was there.

He called his wife, and she called a teacher, who returned to the school.

They heard crying from inside, so Paquette broke a window to get to his daughter.

School officials told police they did a sweep of the building before leaving, and that Samantha Jo had been checked off on a list indicating she’d been picked up.

Police and state child welfare officials are investigating, and the Paquettes say they’ve found a new preschool.

This is really careless of the day care center. If it wasn’t for the father, looks like no one in the day care center who were responsible for the safety of the child would have noticed until its too late.

A New Jersey mother was arrested after her 5-year-old daughter sustained burns from time she spent in a tanning booth.

Patricia Krentcil, 44, is out on bail following her arrest on a second degree child endangerment charge.

“The little girl went to school and reported she had these burns and that caused the school to contact authorities,” Katherine Carter, spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, told ABCNews.com.

Carter declined to name the Nutley, N.J. tanning salon, citing the “ongoing investigation.”

Krentcil’s daughter is in the custody of her father, Carter said.

New Jersey law prohibits anyone under the age of 14 from using a tanning booth. Older teens are allowed to tan but only with parental consent.

Attendance scam hits Berkeley High School

Kids are learning fast. Dozens of students at Berkeley High School are facing suspension or expulsion after school officials say they got into a computer system and changed their attendance records. These kids have a good career prospectus in politics.

Principal Pasquale Scuderi said Wednesday that 50 students will be suspended and two or three expelled. The scam apparently occurred after some students were able to obtain an administrative password to the system, which was then sold to other students.

The changes to students’ attendance records occurred between October and January and meant students could skip classes or school altogether without their parents knowing.

Scuderi said administrators discovered the scam just before spring break on April 2. They then went through the school’s 3,200 students to determine who was involved.

Presidential Candidate was in for a rude surprise at St. Louis zoo on Friday when a Penguin just didn’t like him. Newt has always had a close connection with animals and was a regular visitor to zoos.

Things have not been going all that well for Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich lately, even at one of his favorite places – the zoo.

Newt was nipped on the finger by a penguin during a private tour of the famous St. Louis zoo on Friday before he spoke to the National Rifle Association convention, zoo officials confirmed on Monday.

Gingrich, who is trailing in the Republican race for the White House and is under pressure to withdraw, passed unscathed through Big Cat Country and avoided contact with the crocodiles in the Herpetarium. But his visit took a turn when a Magellanic penguin pecked at the candidate’s hand.

“He was nipped on the finger by a penguin,” zoo public relations director Susan Gallagher said. “A Band-Aid took care of the injury.”

Gingrich vowed he would not shun zoos. “Newt is a zoo fan. He will be back,” spokesman R. C. Hammond said.

The zoo allows people on private tours to get “up close and personal” with the birds.

Gingrich has made a habit of visiting zoos while running for president and wrote the forward for “America’s Best Zoos: A Travel Guide for Fans & Families.”

Two eye witness say a massive object the size of a whale crash into Litchfield, one is a motorist who passing through and another a State Trooper who altered authorities and asked them to check on it immediately.

Authorities in northwestern Connecticut say they didn’t find anything after a state trooper and another person reported a large object falling out of the sky in Litchfield.

The Republican-American of Waterbury reports that a person driving in Litchfield at about 2 a.m. Tuesday reported that a green, glowing object the size of a whale fell from the sky and crashed into Bantam Lake. Officials say that at about the same time, a state trooper 10 miles away in Warren called dispatchers to report that something fell out of the sky and landed near Bantam or Morris.

Morris firefighters made several passes up and down the lake in a boat looking for a possible plane crash, but didn’t find any debris.

Authorities called off the search, leaving the mystery unsolved.

2 eye witness who saw the exact location where it fell into and people can’t find this mysterious object ? Now, how wired is this ?

The dad believes he is disciplining his child, but this does seems over the line. Twelve-year-old Jose Gonzalez isn’t having much fun on his spring break. But his father hopes it will be a week the Denver-area youth will never forget.

The Denver Post reports that after Joseph Gonzalez found out that Jose had stolen $100 from a cousin’s wallet, he forced his son to stand on a downtown street corner holding a sign that reads, “I am a thief. I took money from a family member. Don’t give me money.”

“He’s a good kid,” Gonzalez told Post reporter Electa Draper. “This is the first time he’s done something like this. I hope it will be the last.”

“The taking-responsibility part is cool, but the rest of this is not cool,” Florida psychologist James Huysman told the paper. “This is about shame. In the old days, we used to just shame people, hang signs around their necks in public.” Huysman said Jose is too young to gain any “insight” from the punishment.

“I think it’s, like, fair,” Jose says in the video. “I was kind of mad but sad at the same time because I thought I was gonna be embarrassed a lot.”

But his dad isn’t worried about any psychological scars or the public notoriety gained from Jose’s punishment. “Nah, he’s only 12 years old,” he said. “Everybody makes mistakes at that time in their life. It’s about being corrected.”

In addition to making his son hold the sign, Joseph took Jose to his school, where he made him admit his theft to school officials and a police officer.
