Obama's School Speech

Obama's School Speech

I am sure all of you are interested in knowing what US President Barack Obama has said to the students. For those of you who missed it. Here are the highlights. Well, in short he wanted the children to stay in the school. He also students have to be careful of what they are posting in the internet as they can be misused. Moreover, he wanted the students to stay focused on studies. He went far enough to say that students who drop-out of school are actually in a sense betraying their country cause they won’t be able to serve it in an intellectual way.

Overall, the speech is good. I didn’t find anything wrong with it. But lets wait for the critics to make their call. I am sure they are busy right now finding mistakes. Just a lot of advices to the children so that they grow up to become something useful for the country rather than a burden.

Anyways, here is the video from CNN.

UPDATE : COMPLETE 18 Mins Video of the speech available on Youtube.com,

White House Adviser Van Jones has finally called it a day and has resigned amid controversy over past activism. It has been reporter by New York Times.

“On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me,” Jones, special adviser for green jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, said in a statement announcing his resignation just after midnight Sunday. “They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.”

He continued: “I have been inundated with calls — from across the political spectrum — urging me to ‘stay and fight.’ But I came here to fight for others, not for myself. I cannot in good conscience ask my colleagues to expend precious time and energy defending or explaining my past. We need all hands on deck, fighting for the future.”

Jones issued two public apologies in recent days, one for signing a petition that questioned whether Bush administration officials “may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war” and the other for using a crude term to describe Republicans in a speech he gave before joining the administration.

On FOX News Sunday, Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich declined to criticize Jones directly, though Alexander did question why the Obama administration had appointed so many issue czars.

“I don’t think he’s the issue,” Alexander said. “I think the czars are the issue.”

Should Obama Address School Children ?

President Obama has planned to give a speed addressing the students in school via television. Some districts has already decided not to air it. Reason ? Well, the parents are not feeling safe. They think the speech might contain something that they might find objectionable.

Districts throughout the suburbs have been hit with complaints from parents who are worried about their children hearing a message from Obama that they won’t have a chance to preview.

Farmington Public Schools is encouraging parents to pull them from class if they are uncomfortable with the speech.

Districts that have addressed the speech on their Web sites include Oxford Community Schools, Rochester Public Schools and Van Dyke Public Schools in Warren.

The districts acknowledge that the message is intended to stress the importance of education and taking responsibility for learning. Some parents say the uproar is much ado about nothing.

“I think it’s great that somebody as high up and respected in our country is addressing our kids,” said Tom Bejma, father of two South River Elementary School students in Harrison Township.

U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, a Livonia Republican, and U.S. Rep. John Kline, R-Minn., are asking Obama to release the text of the speech in advance.

Mike Reno, a member of the Rochester Board of Education, said the idea behind the message is noble, but the timing is bad because of the politically charged climate.

Lets see how the mood changes after the speech…

Worst is over in economic crisis: Obama

Posted by Riz On August - 8 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

barack_obamaAmerican President Obama now came out publicly quoting that the worst of economic downfall that had swept America is finally over.

Obama says that, the rating of employment in America is better than the last 15 months that proves the economic is gaining.

But all other Economic experts stand opposite to Obama speech stating, the country has way long to go forward to recover from this worst recession since the Great Depression of  1930′s.

Obama speech is as follow , “I’m convinced that we can see a light at the end of the tunnel,” saying his policies had helped unfreeze credit and a rising market was restoring value to battered 401K savings plans.

“We’ve pulled the economy back from the brink,” he said.

But he added, “We have a lot further to go. We will not have a true recovery while we are still losing jobs.”

Employers shed 247,000 jobs in July, the Labor Department said on Friday, the least in any one month since last August, taking the unemployment rate to 9.4 percent, down from 9.5 percent in June.

Whats your thought on this? Has Obama really did his job in controlling the economic crises? Post your thought and comment us.  :)

OBAMA JACKSONVILLE

American President Barrack Obama surrounded by the Secret Service during his short meet with supporters

I was Browsing online where i came across this interesting story that explains whats going on around the American President.

The  article reports that American President Barrack Obama receives atleast 30 death threats per day , making him unique on receiving the highest death threats for an American President.

The issue was under the cover by the  Secret Service fearing more threats. But its out on a new book mentioning the threats that Obama receive. The Secret Service is actually a well trained cops to guard the American President. The book was written by the President of Secret Service named Ronald Kessler.

The book reports that the death threats for Obama is  400 percent high than any other American President so far. The Secret Service who was in-charged for the Presidential Ceremony where Barrack Obama took Oath as the American President, reports that there were much threats from the local Somalian group trying to  kill the new president.

The  Book goes on to add  that, fearing for the safety of the incoming new President, the secret service deployment almost 40,000 agents and officers from some 94 police, military and security agencies.

According to The Telegraph, some of the threats issued against Obama, whose Secret Service codename is Renegade, have been publicized.

After Obama was elected president, his two children Malia, 11, codenamed Radiance, and Sasha, eight, codenamed Rosebud, began receiving Secret Service protection.

Obama’s wife Michelle is codenamed Renaissance. The Secret Service also started to protect Vice-President Joe Biden’s children, grandchildren, and mother.

The poor Secret Service agent who were less in number worked very hard for the safety of the President. One of the a Secret Service agent goes on to say

“We have half the number of agents we need, but requests for more agents have fallen on deaf ears at headquarters,”.

Well, all this is done for the safety of the first citizen of the states. And its worth the honor to serve the country and the President of  USA .

white-house-picture

Telling Barack Obama that “Hillary Clinton called” might land one in trouble, for this is one of the 21 things that the White House staff is barred from saying to the U.S. President.

According to the Politico, a list of 21 things the staff were not allowed to say to the President was circulated in the White House.

The 21 Things You Cannot Say to the President after a News Conference are:

1. Hey, we hear the Golf Channel is going to carry it next time. Well, actually, only the Golf Channel is going to carry it next time.

2. Don’t worry. We’ll get ‘em next year.

3. Professor Gates called. He can’t find his house keys.

4. You want to take a mulligan on this one?

5. We did try to plant a question about Bo, but nobody would go for it.

6. Saying, “I don’t know all the facts … but the police acted stupidly” is a little like saying, “I don’t know if there are weapons of mass destruction … but let’s invade Iraq anyway.”

7. We’ve decided to call the whole news conference a “teachable moment.”

8. You want a cigarette?

9. Biden called.

10. William Henry “Bill” Gates is the Microsoft guy. Robert Michael Gates is the secretary of defense guy. Henry Louis Gates Jr. is the Harvard professor. They are not related and have never performed in Vegas together. Gibbs will walk this back in the gaggle. 1. Tape it over? But, Mr. President, these press conferences are live.

12. The reason we can’t put the questions on the teleprompter is because we aren’t supposed to know the questions in advance.

13. Those bunched-up clothes in the bed turned out not to be Douglas Elmendorf.

14. That reporter wasn’t from North Carolina; he was from North Korea.

15. Hillary called.

16. You want a blue pill?

17. We checked: After six months, they can’t fire you.

18. If nobody blogs about it, we think you’ll be OK.

19. Now, is somebody willing to rehearse more and play golf less?

20. The only poll that counts is the one on Election Day.

21. Rahm wants to see you in his office immediately

USA president Barack Obama today warned the Americans about the decreasing Educational standards and emphasizing them to improve it cause indians and chinese are really coming hard on them. Obama in his speech particularly looked concerned with the falling Educational standards of his country.

Obama said “it was used to be head and shoulders difference between USA and other countries, but it is not anymore. We  are someway around middle of it”

While our kids play video games more, Indians and Chinese kids spend more time in school learning things very fastly. The Chinese, the Indians are coming at us and they are coming at us very hard, they are hungry, focused and really buckling down at us”  Obama added.

He questioned that , Once America used to provide high number of college graduates, then why its standards in education fallen?

The US had ‘kind of settled into mediocrity when we compare ourselves to other advanced countries and wealthy countries,’ he said. ‘That’s a problem because the reason that America over the last hundred years has consistently been the wealthiest nation is because we’ve also been the most educated nation.’

‘It used to be by a pretty sizable factor we had the highest high school graduation rates, we had the highest college graduation rates, we had the highest number of Ph.D.s, the highest number of engineers and scientists,’ Obama said.

But now the Ph.D.s, engineers and scientist level  is no longer more when compared to other countries and finally he appealed the students to concentrate more on studies then video games.
