UFO seen at Jerusalem’s Dome of Rock?

Posted by Riz On February - 6 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

A  ball shaped light was seen over Dome of Rock in Jerusalem. Rumors spread online stating this may actually be an UFO?

I guess, its an hoax. There is nothing called as an UFO. If you describe UFO as an Secret Army weapon, then i am second to you.

If you believe UFO is to describe about Aliens, then i will quote “Lol” .

Anyway, in the video posted below, it seems as though some light was spotted across dome of rock which the video claims as the sacred place for Islam as Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) descended to heaven from dome of Rock.

As far as i am aware, Prophet Muhammed descended to heaven from Al-Aqsa mosque which the Muslim believe to be build-ed by Jacob (pbuh)  and renovated by Suleiman (pbuh). Al-Aqsa mosque is present  next to Dome of Rock.

Anderson Cooper Attacked in Egypt

Posted by Tommy On February - 3 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

CNN reporter and anchor Anderson Cooper was attacked by the anti-government protesters in Cairo, Egypt. This seems to the first incident of a foreigner being attacked in Egypt’s anti-government protests.

Cooper and his team were walking in Tahrir square through a large crowd of Mubarak supporters when the scene turned ugly. The crowd had let him walk for several minutes into the square when one man leaped out of the crowd, screaming, and attempted to grab the camera.

When he then began to attack Cooper’s crew, people in the crowd began to join in, at which point the team decided to leave the square.

They began walking away from the group who had begun the assault on them, but as they walked out of the square, various other groups rushed towards them, shouting, punching, and kicking the crew.

Cooper can be heard in video saying “I’ve been hit now, like, ten times,” and “the Egyptian soldiers are doing nothing.”

In the video, crowds can be seen running towards Cooper’s team several times as they attempted to exit the square. When the team began to run, they were instructed by a few friendly Egyptians to walk, or else it would be interpreted as encouragement to the violent crowd.

Once they had escaped to safety, Cooper reported that aside from kicking and punching the crew, the crowd had thrown bottles, bloodied the camera operator’s eye, and tried to rip a female crew member’s clothes off.

Now it seems apparent that the the target was indeed the journalists.

According to MSNBC’s Richard Engle and Al Jezeera, other journalists were attacked similarly during the day.

Since then, Tahrir Square has become the site of bloody clashes, largely instigated by pro-Mubarak protesters, some of them police in disguise.

Reports of heavy machine gun fire and tanks laying down smoke screens turned downtown Cairo into a war zone. Reuters reports four dead and more than 1,500 wounded as the violence continues.

The US State Department has advised American citizens to “report to airport immediately,” saying “Further delay is not advisable.”

No word on whether Cooper and his team will heed their advice.

Tunisian Police Join Protesters

Posted by Tommy On January - 22 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

In an embarrassment to the Tunisian Government and adding fuel to the growing protests, the Tunisian Police force has also join the protesters. With no one to control the protesters things could really get out of control in Tunisia.

The anti-government protests in Tunisia reached a whole new level on Saturday as the Police force staged a rally of their own demanding better salaries and insisting they’re not to blame for shooting deaths among protesters who forced the North African country’s longtime autocrat to flee.

An estimated of 2,000 police rallied in downtown Tunis. The highlight of all this chaos was the clash between the police and the youths. This forced President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali to quit the country he ruled with an iron fist for 23 years.

The Tunisian police have long been known as Ben Ali’s supporter and who imposed his policies upon the people. The police were widely feared by the public and their anger against the police mounted during the protests.

The protests were held on Avenue Bourguiba. Many of the police that attended the protests wore plain cloths. Some were also uniformed with red armbands. They sought to press demands like the creation of a labor union, better pay and — like other protests in recent days — the ousting of any members from Ben Ali’s party from the government.

Officers climbed onto their official cars, blew their whistles and waved flags and signs. Some exchanged hugs to congratulate each other about their chance to protest. Many were joined by their families.

“I am not afraid to come down to the street,” said Rida Barreh, 30, who has been an internal security officer for five years. “I work 12 hours a day and yet only get paid 500 dinars ($350, 250 euros) a month.”

Barreh said he wanted a labor union to help defend police officers’ interests — and wanted to convince Tunisians in general that “we are here for the people and we want to serve the people.”

“The government always made sure the people were scared of us but this must end,” he told The Associated Press. “Also I don’t want the blood of our martyrs on my hands.”

Added another officer, Nabil Jazeeri: “We need to forget the past and realize there is no home in Tunis that doesn’t have a police officer or a man serving in the army.”

The U.N. human rights chief, Navi Pillay, has estimated more than 100 deaths have occurred during the unrest in Tunisia since mid-December, and is sending an assessment team to the North African country.

Prime Minister Mohamed Ghannouchi, a longtime Ben Ali ally, on Friday pledged to quit politics after elections that are held as soon as possible amid protests by citizens still angry at officials linked to the ousted regime.

Saturday’s demonstration in Tunis came on the second of three days of mourning of dozens who died in the protests that drove Ben Ali from power.

Posted by Riz On January - 1 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Brazil is all set to host 2016 Olympic games. In this process, she has unveiled the official Olympics logo for the 2016  games in front of million fans and media.

Boy, it was thrilling.

Carlos Nuzman, president of the Rio Olympic organizing committee said, “The logo for Rio’s 2016 Games conveys passion and transformation. The passion of all Cariocas and Brazilians for sport and celebration. “Carioca” being a nickname for Rio’s citizens. And the transformation that the Games are already bringing to Rio and to Brazil.”

The Logo was selected in amid competition between 140 agencies. Finally a design was selected which is created by Rio agency,Tatil.

IOC president Jacques Rogge made his first visit to Rio since the Pan American Games in 2007 and, in addition to seeing the logo unveiled, used the past few days to take a close look at how the city has been preparing for the Games.

A giant TV screen set up on the beach beamed the logo to cheering spectators. Shortly after, a massive flag with the logo was rolled out atop the crowd, who caused the banner to shimmer as the partiers danced underneath it.

“I would like to congratulate Rio’s team for the design chosen as the logo for Rio 2016, which is very innovative and creative,” Rogge said. “It really reflects the vision of Rio and Brazil for these Games.”

We still have 2012 games to start. And here we see great expectations from locals for 2016 games.

Julian Assange Freed On Bail!

Posted by Riz On December - 14 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Yes,yes and yes, Julian Assange is freed on Bail.

Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange who was facing a rape trail  has been given bail by a British Court on Tuesday.

Let the readers note, Thfire assumes that Mr.Assange is an accused and not convicted. If at any point Julian Assange found guilty in the trail. Then we are against him.

For now, till proven guilty, we are Supporting him!

However, Julian Assange has to obey certain Court conditions to get a bail.

Conditions given to him is that he surrenders his passport, put up $315,000 bond, obey a curfew, and wear an electronic monitor.

Pretty tricky ah!

CNN reports the conversion between the Judge and the Attorneys. And it continues below

During Tuesday’s hearing, Assange’s team of attorneys argued that since he is only wanted for questioning, he is presumed innocent. The magistrate agreed.

Attorney Geoffrey Robertson told the court a person who knows Assange will keep him “if not under house arrest, at least under mansion arrest.” At that, Assange, dressed in a white shirt and a blue jacket and sitting in a glassed-in corner of the court with three security guards, smiled wryly.

The mansion, belonging to Vaughan Smith, a former British army officer who founded London’s Frontline Club, is within a mile of a police station, attorneys said, adding that Assange was prepared to wear a location tag, surrender his passport and agree not to apply for international travel documents.

But, said Gemma Lindfield, the attorney representing the Swedish prosecution, “The court has already found that Mr. Assange is a flight risk. Nothing has changed in this regard.”

She said if the alleged offenses had occurred in Britain, “it undoubtedly would have been a charge of rape in this jurisdiction.”

Those in attendance at the hearing included Fatima Bhutto, niece of the late Pakistani politician Benazir Bhutto and current Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, and prominent left-wing journalist John Pilger.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange Arrested!

Posted by Riz On December - 7 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

The founder of the whistle-blowing website Wikileaks, Julian Assange, has told a court he will fight extradition to Sweden.

Bail was refused and the Australian, who denies se**ally assaulted two women in Sweden, was remanded in custody pending a full hearing next week.

Mr Assange told a judge at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court he would contest extradition.

A Wikileaks spokesman said Mr Assange’s arrest was an attack on media freedom.

Kristinn Hrafnsson said it would not stop release of more secret files and told Reuters on Tuesday: “Wikileaks is operational. We are continuing on the same track as laid out before.

“Any development with regards to Julian Assange will not change the plans we have with regards to the releases today and in the coming days.”

Secret locations

He said Wikileaks was being operated by a group in London and other secret locations.

Five people, including journalist John Pilger and socialite Jemima Khan, stood up in court offering to put up sureties but bail was refused and he was remanded in custody until 14 December.

Scotland Yard said Mr Assange was arrested by appointment at a London police station at 0930 GMT.

Mr Assange is accused by the Swedish authorities of one count of rape, one of unlawful coercion and two counts of sexual molestation, alleged to have been committed in August 2010.

The allegations involve two women, Miss A and Miss W.

If the district judge rules the arrest warrant is legally correct, he could be extradited to Sweden.

But the process could take months, especially now that he has indicated he is objecting to extradition.

Police contacted his lawyer, Mark Stephens, on Monday night after receiving a European arrest warrant from the Swedish authorities.

An earlier warrant, issued last month, had not been filled in correctly.

Mr Stephens said his client was keen to learn more about the allegations and anxious to clear his name.

He said: “It’s about time we got to the end of the day and we got some truth, justice and rule of law.

“Julian Assange has been the one in hot pursuit to vindicate himself to clear his good name.”

Mr Stephens said Mr Assange had been trying to meet the Swedish prosecutor to find out the details about the allegations he faces.

Mr Assange has come in for criticism in the last week for the revelations made on Wikileaks.

Lol, a good way of defending your act. But the truth is what you have said cannot be taken back Roland.

Roland Schoeman,an South African swimmer  on Saturday called an Indian spectator ‘monkey’ because he was shouting, shouting, shouting and making noise.

One thing i dont understand is that, if you take soccer, football, cricket all the fans support their home country and shout like buffons. But Mr. Roland dont find that a noisy situation???

A more accurate example i would like to mention is the latest  Cricket tournament that happened in South Africa. The tournament that was named Championship trophy 2010 saw Chennai Superkings Vs Warriors ( a local south African team). In the match, the South African fans shouted like hell all over the game and when they realized their team (that is Home team) made into Semi Finals they shouted like …… To use the word of Mr. Roland Schoeman   “Monkeys”.

I ask, Has the fan got no authority to shout and encourage their home team. Why did he call him Monkey.

If his own country man does that, he says its ok but if its from other country where people are black then there is an issue for him.

I am utterly disappointed with this . In my view, the Swimmer has lost his respect.

Here’s the defending comments from the South African Swimmer

“It wasn’t meant to be a racist remark — in South Africa when someone calls you a monkey they mean hooligan,” the Pretoria-born swimmer said after winning the 50 metre freestyle silver.

“You know it’s an absolute disgrace. There’s a guy in the stands just shouting, shouting, shouting. Someone like that needs to be ejected from this place,” he said.

“It’s unacceptable to be at a professional event like this and have the stand and have people going on like monkeys. That’s not acceptable. Someone like that does not deserve to be here.”

Schoeman said his remark was not a general comment on the crowd as a whole.

“The comment was aimed at only one individual who was acting like a hooligan,” he said.
