Call Center Employee raped by fellow colleague

call centerA 27-year-old girl working at a call centre in Gurgaon was allegedly raped by her senior colleague in the national capital, police said today. The girl, an executive at the BPO ”Salient”, alleged that she was raped after being given a drink laced with sedatives.

Police have arrested Prashant Rana (28), a team leader in the same call centre, in connection with the case. Police said according to the victim, who hails from Uttarakhand and lives at a rented apartment in Paschim Vihar in west Delhi, she was dropped by the call centre cab near her home on Friday night.

Rana, who resides at Buddha Vihar, also got down there, she said. The girl alleged that Rana gave her a drink laced with sedatives after which she lost consciousness, only to wake up the next morning at an unknown house and find out that she has been raped, a senior police official said.

She returned home and complained to the police last night after which a medical examination was conducted, which confirmed rape, the official said. A case has been registered.

“We have arrested Rana. We are not yet sure about the location where the rape took place,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sharad Agarwal. A police official said the sequence of events was not clear as the girl “is not in a mental state to give specific answers.

” It appears that soon after the two got down from the cab, the drink was given to her, police said, adding the incident may have taken place at Rana’’s residence.
